This is a good basic tripod. Much sturdier than many others I've seen in this price range. Smooth controls. Very easy to use and easy for our children (ages 10 and 13) to use with the digital camcorder. Comes with two parts to connect the camera to the stand, so you can pre-attach the connections to two different items (e.g., a camcorder and a camera) and quickly attach and detach each to the tripod as needed. The level works OK, but is not positioned as clearly and is not as large as higher end (and higher priced) tripods (e.g., Bogen). Overall, a good value for the price.

It’s very nice to carry

This tripod is very good. The only one bad thing I can think of is all the plastic. The knobs and crank are all plastic, giving this tripod a cheap feeling.

Flimsy, returned it

the item arrived with a broken handle which holds the camera toghtly in place. I contacted the seller but never got a response. It was an 8.00 plus item for which the shipping cost back to him may have been more than a refund of my purchase price so I guess I just ate it.

I would have done this sooner but we have a some family emergencies come up and I haven't done it. I got my item fast and with no problem. The tri-pod was in wonderful condition and the price was great!

I found one of these at Goodwill for $7.99. This tripod would be ok for a P&S camera or a small video camera but I wouldn't put my DSLR on it. I plan to use it for mounting off-camera speedlights.

I purchased this unit after I bought my canon zr25mc digital camcorder. I have used it often when filming sporting events and action, the adjustable resistance offers fluid movement when trying to follow action and if you speed up, the camera does not jerk (as long as the tension is set high enough). I recently bought a canon G2 digital still as well. Again, the extendable height proved usefull to get a good view of a group shot, or even a landscape or two. It is light enough that I can cary it hooked onto my camera bag (probably around 3 pounds) when I hike to take pictures in the mountains. It is not too stable in uneven terrain, but really it is not designed for that kind of work anyway it seems. Overall it has served me well, and I think someone looking for an inexpensive (virtually disposable) tripod would do well with this model.
