Best Trap For Skunks
This is easily the best skunk trap out there on the market and well worth the price. It won't 100% prevent a skunk from spraying, but it sure comes close. And if it happens, at least it's all contained. It's the only trap we use for them and have had them for years now with very few issues.

No spray trap!!
Love this trap! Released my second skunk so far. No spraying, amazing!! Highly recommend! The door can be tricky but it still works great! I used dog food as bait.

Effective sprayless capture device!
Works! Finally able to write a review! Bought this last summer when we began to be plagued with skunks every so often. It almost caught one the first night but he backed out and never came back. Until this summer…not sure if it’s the same one but last night we caught him. No smell(besides his residual odors) because he’s not able to spray. Worked like a charm.

Opportunity Lost: Defective and a Hassle to Return
I unboxed this trap immediately after receiving it, and felt an instant unease when I noticed it had heavy scratches and wear marks all over it, as well as dirt and mud residue caked in some weird out-of-the way surfaces that were hard to reach.Okay, I figured, some Jackweed must've captured a pest and then returned the trap to the company, which then shipped it off to me to fulfill my order. (I don't know that actually happened, but it's what I came up with after the experiences that followed.)The trigger mechanism seemed really difficult and stubborn to trigger, but the scant instruction sheet offered no help, so I went ahead and baited the trap and set it out. In the morning, the bait was gone, but the only thing inside the trap were a few black and white hairs that had been left behind by my uncaptured quarry. The door sat wide open, as if the trap were laughing at me.For three more nights I suffered the indignity of being an incompetent trapper, but I'm sure Mr. Skunk was fat and happy after finding four regular full meals just a few feet away from its den.I finally tested the trap with a stick, placing pressure on the trigger plate. It took probably 20 or so pounds of force to set the thing off. Obviously defective. After removing the back plate to see whether the sensitivity could be adjusted (again, the lack of instructions about the trap was absolutely infuriating), I discovered that the threading on part of the trigger mechanism was totally stripped out, so even if some amount of adjustment were possible, it wouldn't matter. So the trap was obviously defective, and probably had been returned and re-sold; either that or the manufacturer's or seller's quality control processes were lacking.Worse than all of this, however, was that I had squandered a week of fruitful trapping and was unsuccessful because the trap didn't work in the first place—something I couldn't have known going in because of the lousy instructions.Anyway, I opted to return it. That process was convoluted and took almost two weeks to accomplish. More time wasted!I hope no one receives my defective trap as a resale item, but I'll never know, and apparently, neither will you.Sadly, I cannot recommend this trap nor this vendor.

Two caught on first night
Got the trap in yesterday. Almost no instructions on how to set it. After I figured out how to set it, I realized that the trip lever doesn't make good contact with the door. Used a small shim so it would trip easily. I placed the trap in the yard where the skunks travel. Placed some dry cat food out in the yard around the trap. I put a Twinkie inside trap, as far back as possible. When the skunk showed up, I had him in the trap within 30 minutes. Carried him off to the woods about 15 miles away. Opened the door but he would not come out. Left trap for about 10 minutes. When I returned he was gone. Got home and reset trap. Caught second one in about 20 minutes. Carried him off to same place and when I opened the door he ran away as fast as he could go. Neither one of them sprayed.I had a third skunk that went in the trap and stole the Twinkie but did not trip the door. So that one got away. Maybe I will catch him tonight. For the price of the trap, the quality control should be better and the customer should not have to make alterations. I would also recommend placing something heavy on each side because it can move easily. This is why I gave it 4 stars.UPDATESo far I have caught 14 skunks in 2 months with this trap. It will work after a little adjustment. Simple to use. None of the skunks sprayed when released or while in the trap. If you have a skunk problem it is a worthwhile purchase

False closure/False captures
P.O.S 💩 had this for 2 months caught 1 bird and had 3 false alarms with a shut door. I know for a fact I have a skunk because I caught it on my home camera. I’ve used Apple with peanut butter, Apple with peanut butter and peanuts, sausage and bacon grease, smoked herring, mustard herring. And still nothing. And I’m placing the food in the far back of the trap away from the flap. Hate to say it but my wife was right when it came in the mail. I wasted my money and I’m not gonna catch anything. I’ve had better luck with an old school caged trap that’s at-least 20+ years old. It’s just not anti spray. Quality is decent but effectiveness is trash.

This trap works
It worked with peanut butter on a cracker. Just remember to put bait far back in the trap. Door goes in front of rod not on it. I’ve caught 2 skunks so far. They were making a home under my front porch and sprayed my Weimaraner. She loves to chase things.
