The French Cat (Mini)

Bought this for my mom for Christmas. I searched for gift ideas based on her two loves: France, and cats, and came up with this. I wasn't sure if she would like the book, but took a chance and got it. Turns out, she saw this book in a waiting room in a vet's office a few years ago, and had wanted it ever since.Undamaged, new book. Arrived wrapped in protective plastic, so I didn't get to look at pictures, but if it pleased my mother it must be good.

This book just makes me happy. It captures some of my favorite subjects (Provence and cats) in the most beautiful way. From the layout, the paper quality, to the printing, the details of this book are incredible and nothing was overlooked. There's a large image of a misty landscape which alone was printed on a matte surface because a glossier paper would have been distracting and would not have correctly captured the soft light-filled mist in the photo. I took notice of all the little details that were carefully thought out, and I was so impressed!

If you are interested in France and pictures of crumbling plaster, gardens, cemeteries, and old buildings, then you will enjoy this book. If you are interested in close-up and long shot pictures of cats in their natural environment, then you will enjoy this book. If you are interested in both France and cats then you will love this book. Large and small photographs of French villages, with and without cats, fill this book. Cats, doing their thing, poetry, remarks from the photographer and information about some of the lovely photographed cats themselves, also fill this book. There is even a two page copy of PUSS IN BOOTS, by Charles Perrault, included in this beautiful book. Rachael Hale has taken her camera out of the studio and into the world of French Village cats and I am happy that she did.

What a beautiful book. It makes a perfect present for a Francophile or a cat-lover (or ideally a cat loving Francophile). It probably especially makes a perfect present if you give it away instead of keeping it for yourself (sorry not sorry). It’s a coffee table book, so it’s not a riveting read, but so lovely to look at, with such a charming premise and perception, it makes a cozy half an hour whenever I look through it.

This is my second time to purchase this book as a gift for a cat lover. Both of my friends loved it so much. I love all the stories behind the photos. I have several of this photographers books, and they are all nice, but this one def has the most words, which was a nice surprise.

This is a lovely book! Rachael Hale McKenna is a wonderful photographer and this is a book you can look at over and over again, noticing something new each time. If you love cats and all things French, then this is a good book for you, and would also make a nice gift for the cat lovers you know. I found out about this book because a friend sent the The French Dog first. Both well worth purchasing! Cheers to Ms. McKenna!

This book could change your life. Or not. I don't know. But it looks really good on a coffee table and the women love it. It should include a warning to single women though as owning anything more than 2 cats will scare most men away.

What a lovely book, ah to be a cat in Paris. I decided to buy this book for a friend for Christmas and realized that I should have one as well. It is beautifully done with wonderful quotes about cats. My friend said that she and all of her sisters enjoyed seeing this wonderful book. Enjoy!

i had bought this book to display it in my bookshelf where I have the classic photography books, however this is small. this is the only negative i have to say

I loved the photography! Gorgeous French country sides, and beautiful cats. I liked it so much I bought it for two of my friends, and showed it to countless others.

Poor printing. Muddy dark unfocused pictures. Very disappointed. I will no longer but paper books from this author with a fancy camera.
