Assembly impossible as instructions for wrong cabinet!
We wanted this to house a few collectable bears and it seemed just right as the shelves were adjustable and it appeared to be a nice quality for a domestic setting. In the description it says it can be easily assembled by one person in under an hour. Not true! It took two of us three and a half hours in total. The instructions were for a different cabinet and had the hinges on a long side when they were actually top and bottom and once built it was impossible to get the door fitted. In trying to ease it in we managed to cause gaps in the sidebar joints which then had to be hit back together with the glass already in place. Similarly the lock showed that it was fitted to the other long side and was actually on the bottom and a nightmare to keep aligned with the slot in the cabinet while trying to fiddle with screws and washers on the glass. We had call the retailer for advice on the door. Their reply indicated to me that this is a new item (no reviews yet either) and also that they have not even seen one as the instructions are wrong in several places and not even for the same cabinet! It was a complete nightmare and getting the door on impossible if the instructions were followed so we had to wait with bits all over the lounge while they tried to find a resolution. Having waited 45 minutes I called them back and their suggestion to fit the hinges to the cabinet first then slide the glass in finally worked but was not simple to execute as so many small bits are involved with fitting the hinges and we had carefully measured the distance from the edge previously which was not possible with their method. You put the shelves in before putting the door on but having done so even with one it is then impossible to get inside properly to mark the new shelf positions if you want them different. Also, the silicon strip has to go all around where the glass panels meet the corners and that is impossible to achieve once it's built so we didn't use it. Having built it to the point of putting the door on we were so fed up with it that we would have sent it back but it is one of those things that once built will not "unbuild" especially with all the glass panels in place so we were stuck with it. The instructions indicate which tools you will need but omitted a flathead screwdriver for the shelf supports. They also state that it is lightweight and portable which is ambiguous to say the least! It's glass, it's heavy, and unless you keep it completely vertical the shelves which are just resting on supports would flop around. Certainly not worth the money and we pushed for a partial refund as it was not as described.
