The author does a very good job of explaining the process of forge welding metals to create Damascus steel. He also includes information about bringing out greater contrast in the works. It's hard to stop adding more to this...

Wonderful book that clearly and succinctly walks you through the process of pattern-welded blademaking. Of course, you still have to put in the work, but this makes it a little easier to understand the whys and the process.

Bought as a gift for my husband. He likes it a lot. Said it gave him better instructions then the other books/websites he'd been reading on patter welding.

Even though the contents seem to deliver the message by this master bladesmith, the edition of the book, it's designs and images in black & white that lack contrast, left me insatisfied. Maybe a next edition could manage to overcome this. Great book!

Great book about general damascus techniques, but not so much for actual patterns. I wish there were more illustrations of billet stacking and the resultant patterns.

Gives a lot of great patterns, techniques and I recommend it to any artist Blacksmith bent on producing quality knives.

Really please with this book. It arrived whilst waiting for the previous book (Complete Bladesmith) to arrive, and whilst I've not actually ever done any blackmithing (only read about it with a a view to getting involved) and being put off from reading ti slightly by both reviews AND the introduction of the book which says "this is a volume for the advanced maker, one who already knows more than the basics needed to make a high-quality, good-looking blade", and implies that the author will talk about tools/techniques that will be lost on an amateur.Well, either I'm the world's best study, or the author undersells himself. The author explains in enough detail even for me, a total beginner, to understand. I have gleaned significant knowledge as to what is possible (or realistic) when I do finally get in front of a forge.

Very Interesting read, have wanted to try pattern welding for some time and wanted to know a bit more about it. This book is informative and I found it to be an entertaining read as I have an interest.
