A great value and easy to use....
I'm converting 8MM home movie cassettes (not reels, this is not a solution for reels unless you have a reel projector!) to digital. To clarify, I am basically converting home movie VHS tapes to digital files on my computer. The only problems I've had is with this old VCR I'm using. I'm constantly having to clean the head to get rid of "flashing" of the picture on my computer screen. For this reason, I took the lid off the VCR so I have constant easy access to clean the VCR head when it gets dirty. These old tapes leave dust and grime on the VCR head, sometimes as often a after every cassette is processed. However, the device I ordered from Amazon to do this, along with the software that comes with it, has worked flawlessly. I don't have an expensive computer but I am putting the content directly onto an external hard drive. You first play the tape (in real time) to record it to your computer, then you can burn to a DVD, write to a file (which I am doing since I am just moving everything to an external hard drive), or keep it on your computer's hard drive. You can do minor edits: Snippet, crop, transition scenes and splice videos together.

A few tapes
I converted all of the old family tapes into digital, it was a simple process, any 5 year old should be able to use it, took less than 5 minutes to install and have running, can't say enough good things. The software is very basic and not a lot of options but for the price you get a product that does everything the box says very well.

Can not see video with Windows 10
I have the same problem as others with Windows 10. It will transfer but because I cannot see the video on my computer, it is very hard to know when to start or stop. If you did multiple recordings on a VHS tape, which can record around 2 hours and 40 minutes with the best video results or around 8 hours with the poorest video, it is very hard to know when to start and stop the transfer. I guess one could transfer the whole VHS tape, which could be very long and it does take however long the tape is. Then try to edit out what you do not want?Work around for me:I just tried hooking up the S video cable from my VHS player to this device and I left the red to red and white to white audio the same. I then hooked up the Composite Yellow video to the back of my TV and that way I can see when to start and stop the videos. It would be easier to see the video on my screen so I would not have to turn more than 90 degrees away from my computer and the mouse to see my TV. So I guess 2 to 3 stars for now. Far from perfect, but I will be able to transfer what I want and hopefully stop the transfer when I want.Update: Changing rating to One star and will be sending back, After taking a long time to convert a 2 hour and 40 minute VHS tape, 1 month holiday trip to Alaska in 1994, hooked up as described above. I then burned a DVD and the picture quality was not nearly as good as the VHS tape playing to my HDTV. Wanted to backup some of these old VHS tapes, but big lose in picture quality. Perhaps they will eventually get it to play to Windows 10 so I do not have to have the VHS tape going to both my TV, (for monitoring purposes) and to my computer at the same time. If picture quality could be just as good as the VHS tape I would be happy.

Product works great, but CD is not included.
I’m not sure why everyone has a hard time with this adapter. I’m running Windows 11 and it works like a charm! The ONLY issue I had was it states that there is a CD included for software and driver download, which is the reason I spent the extra money for this specific one. But there is no CD, it is only a QR code or a link included for download. Also, when installing the software, it asks for a serial number for the program, and it states in the instructions and on the download that the serial number is on the CD package, but again, there was no CD included and no serial number.Download OBS software if you purchase this, I am using it on Windows 11 and it works great. No choppy video, and sound and video quality is as good as you can get with a VHS tape. Other than the no CD included as it should be, I highly recommend purchasing this. Everyone said the print is too small to read for the instructions, I could read it just fine. I just recommend whoever buys this that they at least have some basic computer knowledge.

Price is right.
Have to scan QR code to start and all that does is direct you to web sites that want to sell you something. I had to find the driver myself, it doesn't come with a CD installation video even though it SAYS it does. I'm having difficulty trying to get it to read off a VCR. It's supposed to be easy but, the program isn't self explanatory and you have to make many adjustments. Makes me wish I would have bought a different one even though it would have cost more. You probably should consider that.

Does the job, works w/ Win 10, product support good
After reading some reviews about issues w/ Windows 10, I was leery but decided the low cost was worth the risk. As it happens, it worked fine. As others have said, as long as you have decent troubleshooting skills, you can figure it out AND their tech support team responded quickly to my one inquiry which I ended up not needing. Just maybe one precaution - the fold out instructions that come with it may not exactly match up with what you might see on Win 10. I’m actually really happy with my purchase. Thank you!

VHS C tapes to mp2 you need a vcr
Purchased used vcr on Amazon and cassette adaptor to play my old vhsc tapes. Purchased this to digitize. Came with CD to add.driver and capture program. Really easy to add. The only problem for me was that the wire they give you is use to the laptop then female composite connectors, the yellow white red and a n s cable. Our vcr used composite, but you need male connectors as the vcr outputs are also female. I had to order male to male composite cables, no biggie, about $7 on Amazon but a little annoying. Once they came in, no problem hooking up vcr to laptop and turning vhsc to mp2. I needed to download a driver to play mp2 but it was free so no big deal. I think everything nowadays is mp4 but seems to work fine and I don't have to worry about these tapes degrading.
