i have a bunch of old  vcr qmovies that i like convert to dvd will this help bypass a copy protection

There are some forms of copy protection that you cant bypass with this kit. Im not retro tech savvy enough to identify it, but there are 5 tapes i couldnt properly capture (screen intermittently froze or would go black with only audio).

 I even tried running the signal through a high end 80s tv first and using the video out port(going VCR->TV-> PC instead of just VCR->PC) but the issue still was present. Works like 90% of the time, but i cant figure out why some just dont

Do i have a defective product, the computer continues to say "usb malfunctioned there not recognized"?  reinstall isn't working
