Reinforce adhesive on magnets with glue
I bought these to add extra pans to existing palettes, and they work great. You just peel the backing off the magnet, stick it to the bottom of the pan, and put it in your metal palette. Magnets are strong enough to hold the filled half pans in place. You get 50 magnets, and 48 pans, so I have plenty left over after filling empty spaces in two palettes. Great value for the price.Edit one week later: the sticky part of the magnets holds for about 5 days before it falls off the back of the pan. Will have to use glue. Not really a deal breaker, but it is an extra step people buying these will probably have to take.

Just what I expected
The media could not be loaded. Packaged in plastic bags, half pans are exactly as pictured and the magnets are good quality, easy to peel and stick.

Great set for the price, worth it
I bought the set of 48 empty half pans. It arrived on time, with a total of 53 pans. That’s an extra five pans, which I really appreciate. It was packaged well enough, double bagged, which was great in case the outside bag ripped. I think a stronger outside bag might have been better, but it was good enough as it was. These are the exact same size as the half pans that came in my palette. They aren’t quite as well-made, as you can feel some slight roughness or see little “burrs” on the top edge of the pan. This is only really noticeable if you run your finger over it, which you are unlikely to do after you have the pan filled and put it in your pallet. I just used the back of my scissors and ran it along the edge to knock down some of the roughness. This is the only reason why I’m giving four stars instead of five, but honestly for the money I would say it’s five stars, because this is exactly what I expected for the price. This is true, but not far off from what I expected for the money. I would’ve liked slightly stronger magnets, but the stronger the magnet, the thicker it is. This magnet was already pretty thick. It holds the pan well enough to the pallet, and I was able to turn the palette upside down without them falling out, and even shake it lightly. I would not have risked shaking it harder, and I think if they are in an open channel inside your pallet, they are likely to slide around. It is true that once the magnet is on the bottom of the pan, you will not be able to snap the pan into the channel. This is to be expected. In order for the pans to snap into the channel, the little rolled top edge of the metal needs to be right over the top of the pan. Once the pan is lifted up with a magnet under it, there’s no way for that to happen. So I would only plan to use magnets if you are using them in the open space between the channels, where your paintbrush would go, or in any open, flat area. These magnets are definitely not strong enough to use unless the palette you put them in is completely flat in that area. All in all, these were exactly what I expected for the price, and I’m happy with them. I will never understand why tiny plastic boxes are so expensive, just because they are for art. They remind me so much of the tiny plastic hotels and houses that come with a monopoly set, yet you pay more for a small set of half pans than you would for an entire monopoly game! But this is an inexpensive solution.

Using these for handmade watercolors!
I love these half pans for making homemade watercolors. I needed the product quickly and a decent amount for a good price. These were all that and more than I expected. There are a ton of them so it’ll last a while for a lot of projects. The size is accurate for a half pan. The plastic seems good quality and sturdy. They’re white in appearance. I’m super happy that it also comes with magnets to stabilize the half pans to a tin for traveling with your homemade paints or with filling the pans with tube paint. They are super lightweight.

Exactly what I wanted
I bought these half pans to put in a tin travel palette that I use for watercolor paint. The half pans are the perfect size. I can carry many colors of paint with me wherever I go.

Magnetic strips do not have enough adhesive on them
The half pans are great but the adhesive on one side of the magnetic strips isn’t very strong and the pans do not stay attached to the magnets.

Just buy it. It's the best set.
These are absolutely perfect. I decided to get back into painting after a decade plus break. I was convinced my paints would be useless so I looked for a premade pallet and tried one but it was a dud. I thought for $6.99 I could try to use my old tubes instead of waisting a decent amount to try another pallet. I am shocked by the quality of these. I used my old prismacolor colored pencil tin (the 24 pack) and it fit all 50 perfectly with room for a couple brushes. Yes, I did say 50. Not 48. In fact this set came with 53 pans and 50 magnets. I was also shocked that all but 4 colors are good after all this time. This set saved me a good chunk of money and my time and patience by not having to try another pallet. If I had to pick a con, it would be the fact that I now have to wait days for them to dry before I paint, which would be a problem with any pan on the market. I actually prefer the magnets on these than the sets that comes with pans that fit in a line. I like to be able to move them around easily. I don't have to pop them out of a specific spot. And I can also put a couple in an Altoids tin on the go.PS, a little trick my teacher friend taught me, if you need to erase sharpie in the future, go over it with a dry erase marker. Comes right off of you need to relabel.
