Funny, satirical, thought provoking and brilliant
Daniel clowes can just transport you to the book's world easily with his writing and his characters can be so relatable. If you have seen many coming of age Hollywood movies you can relate to this book so much. The humor in this book is dark and funny in a unique way. The author's way of narration transcends very well with the artwork. If you have read diary of a teenage girl this is kinda very similar to it. Just go ahead and buy this you want a break from the usual superhero comic books and graphic novels. Kinda felt that the book is very short but other than that it's just a very pleasant read.

NO REGRETS FOR 80 PAGES!
Loved it with all my heart. I was very familiar with Daniel Clowes and his style of brutally honest cynical writing and avant garde art style. Really connected a lot with these characters. I teared up at the end of the book since it really touches you. It's cynical, funny and emotionally melancholic at the same.

Great book
This is a great book. As far as graphic novels go, I haven't read many better. A beautiful coming-of-age story which is extremely funny and melancholic at the same time.Excellent from Amazon too that these are priced well and shipped quickly.

Way ahead of it's time
Ghost world goes as back as 20 years, but you don't feel that while reading this piece for sure. Why you should consider buying this book?Because it's a simple story told beautifully, how our mundane life and our actions add up to our personalities and our decisions. Ghost stories takes you from one summer of two great friends, Enid and Rebecca, to them growing up and finding their own worlds different from each others. It's something school friends and college friends can relate to very easily. It's a light afternoon read, you can go for the kindle version as well. But if you are looking to have a collection of graphic novels, this one is cheap deal and one for the ages.Who wouldn't like this book:As profound as it's following is, ghost stories might not be everyone's cup of tea. If you are expecting things to happen on a faster pace or some plot twists to occur in the protagonists life, this book doesn't really give you that rush. It's really just slices of Enid and Rebecca's life and it has its own way of charming the readers.PS: If you are new to graphic novels, Ghost stories can be a good contemporary read.

Enjoyable, if a little short...
The observational humour, teenage angst and slice of Americana are very enjoyable as Clowes gives us a little insight into two awkward adolescent girls and their mundane suburban existence. The print quality is great; the colour is vibrant and the pictures nice and detailed in a traditional comic book style. My only disappointment was how short the graphic novel felt. It really only tickles the surface of the characters' worlds and this seemed like one edition in what should have been a bigger story. The film inspired by the book took the initial premise and expounded upon it giving the audience something a little deeper and more involving. This felt like it was over before it begun - a frustrating appetiser.

Adolescent Angst
This is a very original comic that provides insight into the adolescent mentality in today's western culture. The two main characters are very true-to-life, due to their authentic (American teenage) dialogue but also in terms of their perspective on life, which is richly developed by a variety of random teenage experiences in an anonymous American town. There isn't much of a plot, but by the end of the book the reader gains a real insight into the complex mentality and anxiety of many teenagers today as they approach the brink of becoming adults. While comparisons with literary classics are a stretch, this is an original comic that is well worth a quick read.

Essentially a quirky coming of age tale about friendships
This was my first introduction into the wonderful world of Daniel Clowes. I'd already seen the film and loved it, partly for the cast, but mostly for the characters. This is a little different to the film adaptation, but equally as great. The art is beautiful, totally the style I enjoy looking at and it's really well written too. When comics are written and drawn by the same person, I panic a little that one aspect is going to be a let down but this wasn't the case at all. Enid Coleslaw (yep, that's her legal name, her Dad changed their surname) is exactly the kind of character you hate to love because she's totally pretentious and bitter and superior, but she's cool and weird and wonderful too. It's essentially a quirky coming of age tale about friendships forming and ending. By no means Clowes best work, but still a great read.

Good but soulless.
A good graphic novel but I didn't care about the two main characters at all - they are both incredibly unsympathetic. Rather than being quirky etc., the author's every move is entirely predictable. Very 1990's teen angst stuff. Still worth a read though.

Brilliant. What understanding Clowes has of these girls. There is no holding back here in their belittling of other outsiders.
