High Quality High Pressure Valves
These Rain Bird sprinkler valves are good quality. I installed 4 of the 1” valves several years ago in my front yard. They work like new to this day. No leaks, no failures, no noise. I just bought 4 more identical 3/4” valves to replace leaking Toro valves in the back yard. I chose these Rain Bird valves here on Amazon for the following reasons: 1. The price is about $10 less than Home Depot. 2. The valves are rated up to 150 PSI of water pressure. Cheaper valves are only rated at 75 or 80 PSI. 3. Rain Bird offers rebuild kits for these valves. 4. I’ve had no problems with the 1” valves in the front yard after years of use. I did notice that these are a frequently returned item on Amazon. Only explanation I can think of is the wrong type of valve or the wrong size was ordered. There were reviews that complained of failures and leakage. That has not been my experience after years of use. One explanation could be high water pressure. Rain Bird rates them as high as 150 PSI but recommends to keep pressure below 80 PSI. I’m guessing prolonged high water pressure will cause leakage and failure. Another explanation could be hard water leaving deposits in the valves. I highly recommend these Rain Bird Sprinkler Valves. No, I have no affiliation with Rain Bird or Amazon Vine. I did not receive free valves or get paid for this review. I just appreciate honest and detailed reviews so I reciprocate.

Better Quality Than older Model It Replaced-Easy Install
Perfect fit that replaced an older model. Very easy to install and worked perfectly with factory settings. This one came with a controlled top which was not on older models. Very helpful to manually start up for testing,

Quality Product-Works Great!
Works great. Installed as a replacement on my irrigation manifold to replace a leaking valve. Installation was fairly easy, but had to cut out the old valve to install the new one. Note-if you're replacing the exact same valve, you can use the existing bodies on the old valve and just insert the new inner valve components-much quicker. Numerous YouTube videos on how to do this. Overall, I like Rainbird irrigation products and highly recommend this product.

Decent Valves
The house I purchased a couple years ago had these installed (5 of them). I don't know how old they were, but pretty much all were leaking, all in different places. I took a couple of them apart and there didn't seem to be any way to fix the leaks coming from the flow control knob, which is where several leaked from. You can buy replacement diaphragms, but that would't have solved the problem. So they don't last forever and can't be easily repaired unless it's a diaphragm problem. That said, I ordered and installed all new ones. USE THREADED UNIONS ON ALL CONNECTIONS. I read that in a review somewhere and it's extremely important. It makes installation so much easier and will enable you to easily change out the valves if you need to (which you will eventually), as opposed to cutting and rebuilding the PVC pipe you're attaching it to. It will cost you a little more to buy all of those unions, but it's totally worth it. It seems like they should have designed the valves to be easier to get on and off (there should be a built-in way to screw the valve onto the pipes as opposed to having to screw the pipes into the valve- built in unions). I installed the new valves and they all seem to work as they should, no leaks. They all run from my control panel just fine. I dinged the star off for the durability and the design shortcoming that makes installation more difficult than it really should be unless you separately buy unions.

Great valve at a great price, if you can find them at a discount or promotion
These valves work great for me. Standard stuff and a good brand. These seem to be discounted a lot, so getting them here is normally a much better price than my local big box stores.

Fit perfectly
I purchased this to replace a 23-year-old valve that I initially thought had failed. To my surprise—and relief—it fit perfectly with the original base that’s been in place for over two decades. Later, I discovered the old valve still worked, but I’m glad to have a fresh replacement on hand. This new valve is a true drop-in solution, requiring no modifications. One thing I noticed right away was the sound—it was noticeably louder at first. However, it’s quieted down over time, likely just needing a bit of break-in. Overall, I’m hopeful this new valve will prove just as durable as the original.
