Pretty decent book with an interesting fairly original count!
Pretty decent book with an interesting fairly original count, I read this book a while back but never wrote a review on it but figured I should now and I don't remember everything now actually but his count is different, he calls it the Red Zen count but I'm not so sure how accurate or powerful it would be honestly basically counting +2 for every other 2 or 7 cause what if a bunch of Black 2's and 7's came out early in a shoe but all the Red ones were in the back behind the cut card or close to the cut card you wouldn't even know you had an advantage or that your count should maybe be going up or vice versa if a lot of Red 2's and 7's came out early I think you might be over estimating your advantage possibly?? I think this count is probably less accurate and powerful than other level 2 counts like the Revere Point Count or the Zen Count or even the Unbalanced Zen 2 Count possibly that's why a direct comparison done by computer analysis would have been really interesting like another reviewer has said but I appreciate the idea of creating this count and I do find unbalanced counts interesting cause I also don't really like to constantly figure out the true count cause it wears you out faster but I am still a little skeptical of the accuracy of unbalanced counts vs balanced counts but I think the author wanted to have something new to call his own and his own invention and idea writing this which I do totally understand and appreciate and you can tell this Author does know the game for sure and lot of Blackjack Authors try to do that creating new counts even though tag values have already been extensively researched but Cris Statz you have 1 typo in your chart just to let you know where you have -6 for 12 vs 2 on 6 decks where it should be +6 cause your gonna want to hit 12 vs 2 a little more more often, also on the right you have the (D) which means the number should be positive instead of negative for the specific number of decks you are playing with going by how your chart works anyway, if you had (-D) on the right then the matrix numbers would be negative however many decks you are using but you don't have that negative sign on the right, you should fix that -6 and just take out that - so it will be a positive number instead which it should be anyway and update it for everyone who bought your kindle version so we can all get that fixed right away and have your book as accurate as possible and also fix it in future paperback print versions as well for all your customers who buy that version also and if you did that I would probably raise my rating to 4 stars and this book is also pretty pricey so if it was a little cheaper I would probably give it 4 stars, I do also think you should have a dedicated chart by itself that lists your initial starting running counts for whatever number of decks people are playing with cause you don't have that, you just talk about it in the text then have it in your matrix chart on the right but it's important enough to have in a chart all by itself in the beginning of your chapter talking about your count to make it as easy as possible for your readers to understand and implement plus your recommended bet spread of 1-8 simply isn't enough for shoe games and I know it's much harder to get away with bigger spreads and you say that which is true but it's very important for shoe games if you sit there the whole time you really do need to spread more, just maybe leave the shoe after you place your largest bets on big spreads once it's shuffle time, go the bathroom or to another Casino or only back count with smaller spreads but you have to recommend bigger spreads than what you do for shoe games, Knockout Blackjack only recommends a 1-8 spread also and I believe you probably recommend the same thing as them cause you read that book and it's a great book overall but I honestly believe they are out dated saying that plus your book is much newer than that book and should be more intelligent and accurate when it comes to profitable bet spreads since a lot more research has been done regarding bet spreads for shoe games which are the most prevalent games out there now by far, Modern Blackjack does a much better job than your book when it comes to bet spreads and they are very well organized and laid out, take a look at that book and you will see, you should recommend and list a bigger spread for 6 decks which are everywhere and even more of a spread for 8 decks for anyone that plays those in maybe Atlantic City possibly, I do like your more detailed matrix charts for 2 deck games compared to more decks cause the matrix is more important with less decks and your risk of ruin charts are pretty good, those are great additions but decent book overall, I do have a question Cris do you actually use this count when you play Blackjack or did you just invent it and want to write a book about it cause it's new and fairly unique? just curious cause some authors invent counts but don't actually use them like Arnold Snyder invented the Zen count but he actually used Hi-Opt 2 and Ken Uston had his Uston SS made up but never really used it himself in Casino's I believe but wanted to create an unbalanced count so I'm just curious if you actually use this count yourself and how does it work for you compared to other counts that you have maybe used?? Also you don't include deviations for single deck is that because you don't recommend your count to be use for single deck or what? I know there are virtually no good playable single deck games out there anymore cause most are worthless 6/5 games but you should still list some matrix numbers for 3/2 single deck as well as recommended bet spreads, don't just not include it at all but overall your book is pretty good though but could be a little better for sure.
