Schiller Elite Compensating Euphonium - Nickel Silver Plated

Returning to playing euphonium after a 15-year break, I hesitated between buying a used but good brand euphonium or a new one from a "lower" brand for the same price range. I am not qualified nor have enough experience with different brands to compare. More expert musicians than me told me he sounded good.I personally like its tone - within the range I am comfortable with: from D2 to Bb4 (Bb pitch). C2 can only be produced without the pedal and sounds pretty bad. Above Bb4, I think it's more my lack of practice/technique, or maybe the mouthpiece. Practice/time will tell me.The only thing I can really compare is the experience between this new instrument and the old used one I was playing 15 years ago and I am 100% positive it feels awesome to play and maintain a brand new euphonium: it feels great playing it, looks great and it's weirdly satisfactory to wipe out after playing. It definitely helps for the day to day motivation.It's relatively easy to maintain if you wipe it out each time. $20-tip for a faster clean up: wear gloves when practicing and add a grime gutter to limit the leaks under the 1-2-3 valves.The valves are working great and relatively quietly, except you might want to add a couple more felts to the 4th one to make it quieter.I think the mouthpiece is the weak point, but no real experience to support it. I'll try others later.I have been playing it for 3 months and I have a great pleasure playing it, as well as showing it. It's worth its price. I recommend it for beginners / amateurs - I can't speak for the pros :)

We got the euphonium. It's a very good one. It was packaged very well. We're very satisfied with its sound quality, and its reasonable price comparing with other brand. To be honestly, we were worry about it before we got it. It is less popular brand and we couldn't find any local store to try it out. Now we know we made a right decision to buy this one. Although we've waited for couple of more days to get it,the seller shipped it to us right away once it's available.

I've been playing this horn for a few weeks and have no complaints. Good intonation and response. Good valve action. The mouthpiece provided is a beginner type. I really like the lightweight case, especially the backpack straps.

I bought the horn for myself as a student my junior year of highschool and it has performed very well. The valves generally are very smooth and the tone quality is nice and rich. A not-too-bad horn for the price tag.It does, however, tarnish very easily, the valves will wear a bit and the bell will dent at the slightest tap. Overall, good horn and I'm glad I bought.
