Necessary evil with DSLR type cameras.
The JuicedLink is a compact, clean preamp works well with my GH4. Controls are easily managed while shooting. Multiple mounting points offers flexible configuration options. I just wish I didn't need it on my GH4s (but Panasonic's own preamp grip is silly expensive). One thing to keep watch for with this preamp. As the battery is about to die, the preamp starts to make noise. It's hard to gauge when this is about to happen, and terribly inconvenient in the middle of a long interview.

Just right for camera rig mounting
This product is ideal for mounting on-camera (I use it with the Blackmagic Cinema Camera), especially where you need phantom power (as in this case), and I wanted the extra XLR in (3 inputs total). It is professional grade in terms of low noise and clean signal, and has nice features to reduce power consumption. It has no meters, nor limiting, but I do not need that in this case. The proper place for meters is in the camera. This is a small box to go on your rig, not a big beast for the sound guy to carry. Keep that in mind. Where it counts (the preamp), this box has the real stuff. It is not prosumer, but competes easily with SD and the top preamps. As an aside, Robert (the designer / company) has produced some excellent videos and notes to explain how to capture good sound, how to preclude ground loops, how to keep noise low, etc. for newbies (which I am not), and his guidance is camera-specific (e.g. for the BMCC). This is above and beyond, and many devotees of the BMCC have benefited from his expertise.

One of the best pieces of audio equipment I got.
This was exactly what I needed to kill the floor noise with my Rode NTG 2 mic.Would rate it 6 stars.
