Good deal, works well.
Enables me to get a perfect center line on the blade of my knife. Just be sure to use this scribe BEFORE polishing the sides of the blade. The two metal posts that stick down on either side of the blade can scratch the bevel. I made that mistake the first time I used it. Also, the center line gets cut off near the tip of the blade because the two posts don't have any material to hang onto. That's the only reason I gave it 4 stars. Other than that it's a great product, I highly reccomend it. Allows me to get a much more even blade.

Works really well and I use it on every knife I grind.
This little center scribe works well for marking the center line on a knife. I am curious to see how long it will last. I will try to report back on how it is holding up.Update: I have been using this for maybe two years now and it is still working great. The centering posts will scratch the blade on the sides but you are marking in order to get to grinding so that is a non-issue. I have found you can replace the scribe with those that come with the scribe pens, so I always have a sharp scribe for making the center.

It's a great tool as long as your material is 1 inch or less it dose it's job perfectly only thing is is it has a nice awl scratching point and it's replaceable but it does not come with a extra one I'm sure it can be made very reasonablie though! Other than that great!

Poor carbide tip quality
Does great while the "carbide tip" is sharp but after scribing 4 knife blanks it was rounded off and dull

A little upgrading makes this perfect.
It was not obvious to me right away that you need to use dykem blue to see the line this tool leaves, I took an old carbide bit and sharpened it exactly like the bit that was in the centering tool, now it makes a nice centering scratch without using bluing.

Does the job.
I've used this twice now. I'm a beginner so if I can use it anyone can. does the job and didn't take to much to get the hang of using.

Good but questionable QC
Functionally it does what it should. I don't know if I received a customer return or what, but the unit I got was scratched up and the steel pegs that "align" it were rusted. 5 for functionality, 1 for QC, so it averages out to a 3.
