A book for those getting married in 1991.
So I wanted this book basically as a road map for how to plan out our ceremony in the church. I liked the fact that they included all of the prayers and readings that you are allowed to choose from (albeit in a confusing sort of way). I think the book could have been laid out a little differently so that it wasn't so all over the place. I got to the end with the wedding checklists which were ok but if you're like me you're well past that step already. The checklists for the actual ceremony were helpful. Then we get to the very last section, which is an example of a wedding program for those that will have a lot of non-Catholics at our wedding. I appreciated the thoroughness of it, but let's be real, I'm not making my wedding programs 57 pages long. On top of that, this book isn't even updated with the new Catholic prayers and responses. If you're going to base your program off of this one you better pay attention or your guests will be responding with the wrong things. And, it cites studies done in like 1989 so clearly this book was written in the early 90's. That is why I am giving it 3 stars. I thought I was getting a current up-to-date book but turns out I was not. It would be much more helpful if it was updated.

But the contents about the sacrament and ceremony options are very good.
This book is clearly out of date and was written before the internet. So, the checklists may not be the most helpful. But the contents about the sacrament and ceremony options are very good.

Don't bother
This book deals so much with the actual Catholic wedding ceremony such as prayers and so little of practical preparation for your wedding that I can't recommend it. You can get just as much info from your Church deacon or priest and your parish might even have a book and pamphlet on marriage in your local Church. This book is written by a priest so it is understandable that the focus is so narrow. There is a short list for general wedding things to do and I noticed errors in not allowing enough time for a couple things.

Too Wordy
I bought this along with 'Together for Life' and this had quite a bit to it, a lot of preaching, alot of reading (which I didn't have time for). If you want to simplify things and choose what exactly you want for your wedding while getting the basic beliefs and correct procedures, get 'Together for Life' That is all you would need.

Good.
This book gives you all the options (readings, prayers) for the church part of your wedding. It starts putting things into perspective. It also lays out how the church feels about marriage and what it means.

Great book for wedding and marriage prep
My wife and i both found this to be a wonderful resource in both planning and contemplating marriage. Fr.Aridas speaks truthfully on Church teaching. This isn't a happy go lucky just have fun kind of book, but serious preparation...including at the spiritual level. Faithful Catholics will be pleased and impressed. Cafeteria Catholics will find they are not catered too, as they are by, unfortunately, many parish priests. Not for the faint of heart or weak of faith.

Good reference guide
I found the book to be very useful and insightful. It was very helpful in understanding some of the "rules" set by the Catholic Church. Much of the information in the book is standard for Catholic ceremonies and we already received that information in a booklet from the Church. I liked the format in this book much better though.
