Excited narration of a poorly fleshed-out story
I really wanted to love this but I couldn't because while I can sense Ghosn's excitement and sincerity from the first page to the last, what I really wanted was specific learnings on how a non-Japanese executive could lead a Japanese organisation and specific examples of those learnings. There are lots of generally good pieces of management advice and the chronology of turning points is there... but it's ultimately a lot of descriptive meta-statements of the nature of "I saw this problem was because of lack of communication and I fixed the communication" rather than detailed case studies.

Ghosn runs 2 major companies from the air!
Ghosn is an amazing man! When he was head of Renault, Nissan was purchased and they put Ghosn in charge. He went to Japaan with a bunch of French speaking executives from Renault. They couldn't speak a word of Japanese and Carlos couldn't either. But he turned Nissan around while still the number one man at Renault. Somehow, he found time to be voted "Father of the year" by the Japanese. Since then, he spends most of the time in the air, running two major companies. He spends a week in Tokyo running Nissan, then jets to Paris to run Renault for a week. Ghosn speaks six languages and is an expert at taking on extremely complex situations, distilling them to their essence, and then making major decisions with great decisiveness. You're going to like this book, especially if you're in business management.

Not bad
Pretty decent and straight forward overview of Nissan/Renault. I would have preferred fewer management platitudes and more detailed information about the alliance. For the brevity, there was a decent amount of detail, but I would have preferred a longer book if it afforded more granular information.

Comprehensive picture of one manager and his major professional challenge
Four stars because I woud like to see more detailed description on some specific situations or problems Ghosn and his people faced.

Worth the Read
Carlos Ghosn is a very talented and mutlicultured individual leading the way in the globalized economy. This is an important book for those having an interest in business and insight to the changing dynamic of the automobile industry. I read this book prior to the General Motors rejection of the global corporate alliance with NISSAN as advocated by Ghosn. The book gave me a much greater appreciation of the international alliance being sought among flagging automakers to enhance productivity, efficiency, and survival. I recommend the book for purchase for especially any reader interested in corporate globalization culture.

Brilliant and well narrated
Very well told in first person by one of the best in the trade. This is a great story told by a trend setter who has put together one of the greatest business alliance on earth.

I would suggest to a friend.
I would suggest this book to a friend. The themes as in nearly all business genre are repetitive. Carlos has a great story to tell and is a remarkable person.

LEAN AND NEAT
pretty lean and neat reading of the insides of nissan corporation. Not too much elaborate economics and management used which made reading this book a great elation.concepts were explained in neat and crisp way. the ability of the author to engage the audience with layman's words of Carlos Ghosn made understanding very easy.

Fascinating
Ghosn does come across as a bit of an ego, but his methodolgy can't be faulted. An intersting insight into the mind of a man who really did save a amssive brand from extinction. I'd would have liked a little more about the car programs post-recovery and some more technical detail on how Renault and Nissan shared platforms etc but it;s still an intersting read. Ghosn's multicultural background was clearly an advantage to his career and on this factor alone the book is worthy of a reccomendation.
