Is this adapter compatible with Thunderbolt 5, Thunderbolt 4, or USB4 ports?

Yes. It works with Thunderbolt 5/4/3, USB4, and USB-C ports that support data. For full 5Gbps performance, your port must support USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) or higher.

I’m not getting full 5Gbps speed—what should I do?

Confirm your port supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) or higher. Use Cat 6 or better cable, connect to a 5GBASE-T port, and update OS or drivers. On Windows/Linux, install the latest Realtek RTL8157 driver.

Is this adapter backward compatible with slower networks?

Yes. It automatically adjusts to 1Gbps or 100Mbps when connected to routers or switches that don’t support 5Gbps.

Do I need to install a driver?

No driver is needed for macOS or ChromeOS—just keep them up to date. For older Windows or Linux, install the latest Realtek RTL8157 driver for optimal performance.

Does it work with Android phones?

No. This adapter is designed for use with computers running Windows, macOS, ChromeOS or Linux. It is not compatible with Android phones.
