Nice idea but unreliable
I like it very much. The hardware is very high quality (I took mine apart and compared with other electronic devices it is exceptionally built and should be easily repairable in principle). The app reliability seems very dependent on the OS: on iOS it works consistently. On my (ageing) Android phone it practically does not work at all. If you have an iPhone then this lock is a very good option, especially at the current reduced price (8000). I read a review somewhere mentioning water damage. This could be a definite problem because although the body-ends are sealed with o-rings the shackle does not seem to have any form of seal: it seems feasible for moisture to enter this way. I actually took my lock apart as mentioned and coated the circuit board with copious amounts of glue (the type of glue used for attaching e.g. shoes soles: it turns into a tough and flexible rubber). The idea is that even if moisture does enter the lock body it should hopefully stay out of the electronics. In doing this I have basically made the lock impossible to disassemble without damaging it but I prefer this to the potential water damage. So in conclusion, this is an excellent lock, but I knocked one star off because I think the manufacturer should have sealed the electronics against moisture as I did.
