L Bracket for Nikon D850 Camera, CNC Vertical Shoot L Plate Arca/RRS Compatible (LP-D850)

The media could not be loaded.  The KAKAFOTO KLP-D850 L-plate, as noted by another reviewer, is apparently the FOTOBETTER DL-850 L-Plate, as that is indeed the name seen on the L-plate when it is removed from the simple cardboard box it is shipped in, adn which is labeled as a Kakafoto product. So, a Chinese-manufactured product is simply being sold by multiple vendors with the branding potentially changed only on the packaging materials but not the product itself. That's fine by be, so long as it appears to be the exact product that I ordered, and this is.What else is it? To my delight, it is the least expensive dedicated L-plate that I found for the Nikon D850 DSLR, with other brands selling for at least a $20 higher price until. More importantly however, not only does it fit the D850 very well, with a lip that extends around the back edge of the camera to prevent rotation, but it also is 100% Really Right Stuff lever clamp compatible! The video I've provided elaborates on this by illustrating how the RRS lever clamp requires a specific design width for the deepest point of the beveled grooves machined into the edge of an Arca-Swiss compatible dovetail plate. If that width is too narrow or the bevel likewise angled in such a way that doesn't match up flush and snug to the jaws of the RRS lever clamp, then the plate will be able to slip along the channel of the clamp even if safety screws retain it to prevent it falling out.That's not the case with the KLP-850/DL-850 L-plate. With this plate the RRS lever clamp closes with a normal tension and very securely holds the L-plate with no slippage at all. In my purchase of various Arca-Swiss compatible dovetail plates from various Chinese brands sold through Amazon, I've seen quite a bit of variation, with the majority of them not securely fitting the RRS lever clamp, so I'm happy to draw attention to this important detail regarding this L-plate. Hopefully manufacturing quality control and consistency in the product is high, because based upon my impression of this product, I can highly recommend it for use with the Nikon D850 as an excellent product at a great value.

I switch between an L bracked, a Manfrotto 410PL mount and a Black Rapid strap. With the other L brackets for my other cameras I am always trying to keep track of the Allen key I need to install or remove the bracket. Kakafoto has milled out the bottom of its bracket and and placed a magnet there that keeps the two Allen keys securely in place. Its brillian!. Further, The L bracket allows plenty of space to attach a tether cable easily and you won't even need to buy the over-priced TetherTools TetherPro with the right angle micro B. Unfortunately I cannot find a similar Kakafoto L bracket for a D-810

The product arrived on time as promised but upon opening, I discovered that the screw for attachment to the camera as well as the allen wrench were missing. Also, there was no little printed instruction blurb (not that any is supposed to be included or really needed) that is commonly included in these products. The box itself also did not have a seal which is typical for quality control. The QA person definitely fell asleep on the job for this unit.Anyhoo, this unit is headed to a return locker today and Amazon is supposed to send a replacement tomorrow (thumbs up to Amazon for excellent customer service by slating the delivery immediately for a Sunday).As for the product itself, it looks well machined and finished. However, as I couldn't attach it to my camera, I can't yet assess how well it fits. It looks like a solid product though for something that costs 1/3 the price of that 'other well known' brand that makes a 1 piece L-bracket.Will update after receiving the replacement.***UPDATE***Received all parts in the replacement. The photo shows the small plastic bag containing the wrenches and screws missing the first time around.The bracket itself seems to fit and work very well at first trial. For a product that is cheapest amongst it's competitors it definitely is highly recommended and rates a full 5 stars.However, I've only bumped it up 1 star from 3 to 4 stars because of the unsealed packaging that allows for parts to slip out.

DOES NOT FIT a Nikon D850. DO NOT PURCHASE. The attachment for screw is not properly aligned for a D850 body. See photo. There are obvious issues with multiple designs, because some customers say it fits perfectly, whereas some state it will not fit at all. If you purchase this bracket… there is a risk that it will not fit. Again… see the photo.

The 1/4 - 20 screw for attaching the bracket was too short to screw into the camera. It looks fine in the picture, but that is not the screw they sent. Probably just a mistake assembling my copy, but I had to return it.

Installed on my new Nikon D850. Fit perfectly and feels as sturdy as my Really Right Stuff bracket ive used for years on my old D700. The only down side would be the mounting screw used to attched the bracket to the camera. It appears to be made of soft material as the hex slot is already deteriorating after the first install and tightening. Not sure it will last another torque process with the hex tool.

This bracket, while shipped in a box labeled "KAKAFO," is marked "FotoBetter FLP-D850." It does not fit a Nikon D850 base plate.

I got this L-Bracket for my new Nikon d850. It is high quality and just as sturdy as L-Brackets I have previously purchased from better known companies for 3 times the cost of this one. It is an outstanding value and I am confident that it will last many years.
