Slipcasting (Ceramics Handbooks)
C**.
Very detailed and instructive book for the potter who would like to dip their toes into mold making!
Slip casting by Sasha Wardell was recommended to me by a very experienced, professional ceramicist who makes dishes for restaurants using her own custom molds. The book provides several examples of how to make different types of slip casting plaster molds from drop out, two part and multi-part ones. I would not necessarily recommend this book to a novice clay enthusiast, but rather someone who has intermediate to advanced knowledge about working with clay and plaster and who wants to be able to ramp up production to make multiples of their original work.

Inspiring and exciting, a great little book.
Just getting to look at the (too few) pictures of the author's beautifully original slip cast pottery was worth the price of this very informative and well laid out little book.

Everything you need to know about Casting and Mould Making
This literally is the crash course, bible and written law on the art of slip casting and mould making. This book can be used by the beginner just starting out, to the pro confirming what they already know or redefining their technique. The language is easy, explanatory, and detailed, taking you right from the beginning of what is needed in terms of tools, to techniques and tips. There's a history of porcelain and bone china inside, as well as a detailed list or all the equipment needed to start up your own workshop. Explanations on how to make slip cast moulds, models etc are also touched upon in detail. It then also lists and shows how to slip cast so even a complete novice could do so. All the techniques are explained and all are accompanied with diagrams and photographs so you can visualise it. Finally at the end there are examples of her work and the work of other prominent ceramic artists in the field, with explanations of course. This really has everything you want to know about model, mould making and slip casting, and I highly recommend that every ceramic artist should have one in their library.Excellent book.

clearly written
I bought this book to learn about mould making, having had a little experience at slipcasting. The book is well presented and instructions are clear. Everything is explained without too much overly technical language. I would recommend this book.
