The light output for such a small device is fantastic. The all-metal construction gives a very premium feel and the buttons have very positive action. Add to that the all-metal hot shoe mount and practical (if not quite up to the standard of the light and mount) carry pouch and you have a product that is exceptional value for money. If you're in the market for a small, budget-friendly light to use as a hair light or backlight then this is one to consider.

When charged to 100% and switched off, the Sokani x21 loses its charge in 2 or 3 days just sitting in my backpack. When it happened 1st time I decided I made a mistake and didn't switched it off. So I carefully switched off next time, put it in my bag and when tried to use it 3 days later it was dead again. Apparently it uses electricity even when switched off, which is outright poor build quality. I gave it 3 stars because when charged it functions well, gives bright enough light and is compact and solid. But this problem is very annoying.

I am just starting to up my lighting game. I wanted a small powerful light to help me get better video and pictures. For the money it seems great and look forward to using. Plenty of gels included and a handy carrying pouch. I will be buying some more when I get the chance. Highly recommended.

Great little extra for a DSLR. Strong light performance and comes with filters. Easy to operate and attach to camera. A must have for all DSLR owners and comes in a cute little pouch.

This is great. I love how compact it is and also how effective it is. All the different light filters included give you quite a range of lighting effects and it is plenty bright enough for video and also as an aid to photographing too. I like how the magnets hold on the filters making it pretty easy to change it over quickly. All in all a good little light and very versatile.

I got this as I was looking for some lighting for recording some videos for a course I was building, but ended up ditching this because I found it didn't really give me the kind of lighting I needed. It realistically needs to be set on a tripod very high up with light coming down on you, as when pointed at your face you just ended up flooding you with too much light.

This is a small light around the size of a mobile phone or HD drive. For its size, it's fairly powerful and sheds a light which can be tweaked with the gels provided. It has a fitting to use either attached to a camera or to a stand, but not to a phone.As someone who is experimenting with selfie videos this is easy to use and cheap but it's probably not for more sophisticated users.

A fairly well made and surprisingly hefty unit.Made in China, the instructions are sparse but understandable.There is no information about warranties or what to do if you have problems.Easy to use.The light can be quite harsh.

The product is good, but my power button failed after 6-7 months and Sokani would not respond to a warranty claim, so I can't recommend any products by Sokani. If its outside of the 30 day return window and it breaks then you are out of luck

I bought this light back in February and used it as an accent light to test it out, running a comparison against my Aputure M9 and MX. A lot of people compare it to the M9 because of the price point but practically it's closer to the $150 MX in its specs. Just a little dimmer and not bi-color.After testing (which I was very happy with the results) I put it in my bag where it sat for a month or so. I pull it out for a video shoot and it would not turn on no matter what I did."So why the 5-star review?"Well, I commented on Instagram on how my favorite new little accent light seemed to be defective and Sokani contacted me and asked if they could replace it even though it was outside the 30 day replacement period. After a brief verification of purchase, I got my new light the very next day. I mean, THE NEXT DAY. Their customer service is on point. All manufacturers suffer the occasional defective unit (I've had to have cameras, cintiqs, drones, etc., replaced) so I'm not holding that against them and I have not had a single issue since then. They handled the situation like pros as far as I'm concerned."Cool, they're good people. What about the light?"The Sokani X21 shines at about 200 lux 1 meter away so while it may not be ideal as a key light it will work in a pinch. It's perfect for accent lighting on backgrounds, products or lighting up dark spots in your composition. It has an all aluminum body which is great for protection from drops and bouncing around in a bag, but lends a little weight to it. I like to stick these kinds of lights to walls, inside bookshelves, inside lamps, etc., with double-sided tape so the lighter it can be the better. My new one runs on 100% (5500k) brightness for about 45 minutes which is great. It can also be plugged in to charge while in use. It comes with a standard small ball head with cold shoe adapter, charging cable, diffusion panel, CTO (tungsten) panel and a ton of different colored gels which is a nice little treat."My god man, that's too much text to read!"Uhg, fine. TL;DR Pros and Cons then.Pros:• Excellent customer service.• Lots of accessories (CTO, Diffusion, Gels, Ball head).• Sturdy build. Not worried about cracking it.• 45 min battery life at 100%.• It's bright.• $50!!• Can be plugged in for longer life.Cons:• No clear panel for attaching gels for hard light. Gels need to be taped on if you don’t want diffusion.• The aluminum body could be black. This is just a personal preference but I prefer all my gear to be black.Overall this is a phenomenal product for the value. I can't wait to see what they do next.-Jonn

Originally was impressed. Light works well & the shades are a nice touch. But the power button appeared to be stuck inside after 2-3 days. Turns out the button on the inside that makes contact with the outside button doesn’t hold up. It’s tiny. Not sure why they didn’t reinforce one of the most important parts of the unit.

DESIGN:It is pretty straight forward simple design and that makes it very effective portable LED light.Front Panel has little round-shape magnets in each 4 corners. Useful when you need to attached the cool-shade or warm-shade diffuser, both have designated magnets as well. LED lights are covered with thin glass material to protect both bulbs and its user.The back portion has a little rectangular OLED screen located on the right portion of the unit that provides an easy access to view status of the following:- Power- Battery / Charging- Brightness: adjustable from 0% to 100%Circular control buttons are easy to navigate/locate. Reasonable size and print labels are easy to read as well.Located at the base of the unit is the 1/4 screw hole where you can attach the universal cold shoe mount - nice finishing, solidly built in my opinion.Right below the power button on the side is the micro USB port for charging.Lightweight product(100g), 80g lighter than Huawei P20Pro. Overall the unit has a nice touch and feel and that leads me to an impression of a premium quality metal case is used on this portable LED video light.PERFORMANCE:To support this statement, during prolong usage the metal case is considered to be as user-friendly to the fact that it does not produce heat around the surface which means heat is equally/properly distributed well or has enough ventilation to prevent users from burning skin.The LED lights are very impressive in a way that they are not flickering even at 100% brightness the lights stay consistent until unit runs out of battery. Light output did not change at all - pretty steady. Speaking of battery life - I am fairly satisfied with the result. Being at 100% brightness from full charged battery it could last for more or less an hour.

Really nice little light. Easy to carry in your pocket and the 1/4” mounting hole is great for all sorts of setups. I bought this as a small work light for under countertops and in small rooms without power. Plenty of light and using it at 10% up close saves your eyes from harsh glare and ensures a long runtime between charges. The only things that I wish this light had was a rugged outer shell or case to protect it. It is solid but I think a 10 foot fall onto concrete would damage it or kill it. Highly recommend.
