My 2nd graders liked it!
This book is informational and historically accurate, while at the same time taking creative liberty. The editor's present life in Ancient Egypt through the eyes of children then and children today. It is entertaining and informative. In fact, the best reaction I got from these 2nd graders is when I read the section called, A Kid's Life, "Imagine you are growing up in ancient Egypt during the age of the pyramids, about 4,500 years ago...Most children don't go to school, since only a few people know how to read and write. Your head is likely shaved, except for one lock of hair worn over the right ear. And you don't worry about clothes because you don't wear any!" This introduction opened up a very interesting and lively discussion.

love it
Great book love the details !!! My little one went crazy when I gave him 10 books on Egypt for x-mass this year and this was one of them. He loves this book. It's a very nice look into Egyptian culture. Glad I bought it. Would do it again !!!

Excellent
I used this book to write up a social studies unit focusing on Ancient Egypt for 6th graders. Although the text is easily understood by lower grades the information in here is excellent. This book allows students to really step into a different time period and experience a different culture altogether.
