This replacement works good and was easy to replace. You have to remove the rear bracket and front face plate from the old and install on the new. Taking pictures of the rear bracket from several angles before removing will save some frustration.

This DVD + DL Writer really made my computer like brand new

Initially, my Windows 10 PC wouldn't recognize the new drive as a "CD/DVR" drive, giving me a "E: \ The directory name is invalid" error when I inserted a CD. I ended up unplugging the new drive and then plugging it back in, this time with the PC powered up. It immediately identified the drive correctly. Working great now.

I've bought a few of these. All seem to be the same quality. Optical drives used to last the life of the computer, the only reason I needed to change them were upgrading reasons. These new drives seem to be like post its. Use em and trash em. I had to change my drive 2-3 times already, but there doesn't seem to be any other option.

This was the same model number my Acer Travelmate used. The heavily used one my Acer came with finally died after about 8 years, so I got the exact same model hoping for no fitment issues. It fits perfectly and the bezel snaps on and fits perfectly and it is just like the original. It works great. Hopefully this one lasts at least 8 years too. I do a ton of cd ripping and dvd watching so I don't expect these to last forever. UPDATE: Six months later and it has completely failed and will not read anything anymore. Changing review to 1 star this is absolute junk
