Baking with Julia Volume 3

There are 37 episodes in the Baking with Julla series. A La Carte is releasing them piecemeal with 8 episodes per dvd. This is only the 3rd dvd, so why are they repeating episodes already !I knew something was strange when NOWHERE could you find the listing of what this dvd contained.It contains 8 episodes but only 7 of them are new to dvd. One is an "encore" from dvd 1. A really good 39 episode TV series by the Boston PBS station. Also, they have a big recipe book but this DVD volume (1 of only 3) has the episode where you use your bread maker to the dough stage, then let it rise and bake (it is actually a bit more complicated). I need all the help I can get when it comes to baking anything. For some unknown reason, Jacques Pepin never showed up.

Cooking videos and DVD's have replaced Dancing with the Stars and Celebrity Diving???? for me: broadcast TV so stupid and ridiculous. In this volume of the series (three in all), I liked all the recipes presented- full of things I would like to actually consume, once motivated to bake them. Procedure and instructions very simply presented for the home cook. Interesting guests with considerable experience at their craft/art, makes for very entertaining and educational (it doesn't hurt) viewing.

Julia is always wonderful. The stretching out of so few guests not so much. The bonus is no bonus. Infact it is kind of a cheat. If it wasn't for Julia herself I would rate this as one star. I will keep the producers of this show in mind for future purchases. I wpould say they should charge more but give better value.

This is the third time I ordered this over the span of several years. The first two were faulty discs and only played half the episodes. This copy works fine and completes the series.

If you are like me - a big fan of Julia Child and just can't get enough - then all three volumes of her cooking videos are for you!

This is just another reason why Julia Child is a beloved culinary legend. Highly recommend. Even if you don't cook, you will greatly enjoy watching Julia cook. Must have.
