My dog had a litter of four, one wasn’t feeding as much as the others so I decided to give this a try. One tiny drop on my finger and his appetite went through the roof! Within two days, his weight is the same as the rest of the litter. I’m not sure how this works, but it worked. I couldn’t recommend this more, and wouldn’t wait until your newborn goes downhill. My Yorkie had puppies in April, I'd had this on hand just in case. The smallest pup was born and struggling, a teeny bit of this in their mouth and it made the little pup (chicco) more alert and after some breathing measures he was absolutely fine. It contains colostrum which is in the super concentrated milk mama has when the pups are first born. Hopefully no puppy would ever need it but it's great to have it at hand just in case, you only need a teeny bit for a puppy. It smells very strong (like mustard?) but it does the job and I'm grateful that it helped little Chicco enough to be able to nurse from mama.If you're having puppies, this may be a lifesaver.

I found the tube clumsy and hard to get a dose for a newborn without either having to launch it into their wee mouths or getting it out first and it sliding down the applicator before you get to the mouth, as the plunge application is rather stiff.
