If you count the splines on a coarse knob you will have a total of 18 splines. If you count them on the pot, there are 8 on each side of the split (16 total). Almost all press-on knobs that fit coarse 18-spline pot shafts won’t fit fine 24-spline shafts, and vice versa. NEVER pinch the control shaft with pliers to make a knob fit. Do not fit Precision Bass
I purchased these knobs for a new Black Fender Precision bass. Although they are the same external size as the knobs currently on the bass, the hole to fit the pod is not even close. I'm guessing they are truly for a Tele.. no idea why they are also listed for a Precision. Bottom line, if you are buying these knobs for a Fender American Professional Precision Bass, do NOT waste your money.

these would not fit on my pots and stay put even though i had the set screw all the way in and they still came off,got better knobs and they worked perfectly
