Don't worry about the preview
(Review is for print edition)I used to own this book many, many years ago and decided recently to replace it. I looked at Amazon's digital preview (next to the product image) just to make sure that it was as I remembered it to be. I almost didn't buy it! The preview is full of typos and bad formatting and just poor quality overall. Luckily, I took the chance anyway. The print edition is perfect with well designed pages full of tons of information.Like I said, I first read this book many years ago and have developed my own interpretations for the cards beyond what is contained here. There's a lot of information, though, and it's a great addition to your library. It could even be the foundation of your library if this is the only tarot book you own. Glad to have it back on my shelf.

Great Beginner Book - One LARGE Flaw
This is a great book for beginners. It's the perfect companion to the Rider-Waite Tarot deck. It presents you with exercises that are practical and introduced in a logical order. The book encourages a lot of meditation which, of course, is a key component to reading the Tarot. One of the things I liked most was how the exercises encouraged you to treat the cards as real people. It challenges you to really get to know them and by doing so, I feel it deepens your ability to accurately read the cards and use them for other spiritual purposes, as well. The MASSIVE drawback I had to this (and I have to admit- I was rather offended) was that the author encourages you to do a daily mediation with the Major Arcana, using Christian prayers. Now, I'm not saying Christians don't use Tarot cards and I'm certainly not judging Christians. But the daily prayers given in this book REALLY were so far fetched and fake, it hurt. She used such language as "O, Thy Lord, grant me this thy daily bread whilst I read my Tarot cards" (of course, I'm paraphrasing for humor's sake.) If you're creative enough, get to know the meaning of the card and write your own daily prayer for the Major Arcana. The way she presents it is just plain terrible.Other than that, this is a great place to start for beginners because she teach you more than just how to read the cards. She teaches you how to relate them to other studies such as the Qabbala (sp.?) and Astrology. Overall, it's a nice starting point but I think if you poked around a bit more, you'd find something more worth your money and time.

Esoteric approach to tarot
This is a step-by-step guide to help you learn the tarot using your intuition through meditation and concentration. I have been using tarot for many years and have a good foundation of what each card means to me, this book capitalizes on my current experience while providing me with the tools needed to broaden this knowledge. One thing that did not resonate with me was the use of "God" and "Christ" in the daily prayers with the major arcana, but overall this is a great tool to add to ones library.

Perfect form!
I was excited to see a copy of an older workbook that I have that needed to be preserved better because it's a paper copy. This is more of a laminated and more protected edition. It will last a long time. It's a bit smaller in dimensions, but has all of the same contents of the earlier copy.

comprehensive and easy to read
This is about the most comprehensive book on Tarot I've come across. As a beginner, it's invaluable wealth of knowledge, and as a seasoned reader it makes an excellent reference guide. Don't just rely on the little books that come with the decks, this has way more information. For a beginner, it's best when used in conjunction with the Rider-Waite deck, as all the card illustrations are from that set.

THE BOOK I'VE NEEDED FOR YEARS!
I'm a Christian..and after many years of wasting money on tarot books that do NOT pertain to me, I have found this amazing resource by Eileen Connolly. Geared to Christian theology, with also some eastern Hinduism with card association origin, I now find myself at last, within my own element, the book is a treasure trove of both beginner's and intermediate knowledge. There is a prayer for each of the major arcana, which I feel adds much depth for spiritual and self guidance readings. Ms. Connolly takes the guesswork out of how to properly handle and take care of your deck so that it is good to you for years to come. Not sure that pagans would appreciate this book but for Christians out there that really want to enjoy the beauty of tarot, this book is for you! I love it.

Five Stars
Love it so much, it is so accurate, I sent it to my son a couple of years ago because he was going through a difficult time. How can Eileen Connolly have this amazing intuition I think when I was going through difficult times? It certainly helped me. When you go through difficult times, I was reaching out for any support and this really assisted me, I've since bought the book again. Also, I have no interest in studying the tarot cards to any 'furthering' of my own intuition and I felt very safe in her interpretations.

excellent resource
This is a great book for those who are serious about learning to read tarot. The first part of the book consists in exercises for building intuition with the deck. It also covers numerology, so that in time you can read the spread without trying to remember each specific card. Knowing the numerical and suite significance really streamlines the reader's effort. The second part of the book includes little rhymes to aid memory work and very helpful info on how position in the layout or appearing with other specific cards can affect the reading.

buy the actual book and not the download,
buy the actual book and not the download, there were too many typo errors and weird signs instead of the actual words, although I could work out what it was saying, it became irritating.I was replacing my original old copy by Eileen Connolly which I gave to my daughter-in-law. I shall buy the new version in hard copy and see if it is similar to the original

THE Best Tarot Book.
This is the second copy I have bought: one for myself, this one to replace my husband's copy which was battered, bedraggled, losing pages and, in general, dying of old age.The old one had a lot of use. This one will get a lot of use...

What I love most are the poems for each card
This is a replacement for my well worn manual from about 30 years ago, the only one I ever learned Tarot from. What I love most are the poems for each card , upright and reverse, so easy to remember. I know most of them all off by heart now, but have had to throw my old book out as cover has come off.

Highly recommend
This is really a 'must have' standard text for tarot study in my opinion . It is in a style and of a view which might not be yours but any serious study will need several views. It is a very good and knowledgeable approach. Highly recommend
