Works great for a run-time meter for an HVAC system!
Works great for a run-time meter for an HVAC system! I don't use it much, so replacing filters and other maintenance based on calendar dates wasn't working. But you do need some knowledge to tap into the system control-I tapped into the circulator fan line, as that would be running with either heat or cooling, giving a good time of running hours!

Simple to install...
Mechanical Hour Meter Photo shows the meter installed on an unfinished wall in a utility room -- it's adjacent to and wired to the motor side of a new 5 hp Maxair air compressor. Used an outdoor electrical box with a 1" extension and a plastic dummy cover. Even with the extension, you'll need to bend the two rear lugs on the meter at a 45 degree angle for it to fit, depth-wise. Used a jig saw to cut the rectangular hole for the meter and held it on with two 1/2" long #8 x 32 screws/nuts. This is a 110 volt meter, so attach the neutral wire to either lug and a hot 110 volt wire to the other lug. (If the two hots from a 220 volt cable are connected to those two lugs, the meter will burn out instantly.) The meter runs whenever it's powered by 110v. My meter will be used to determine when to perform compressor maintenance; which is based on hours of use. Here are the install parts used; all available via Amazon (other makes of each one are available): - Greenfield B34PS Series Weatherproof Electrical Outlet Box, Gray - Greenfield B001APS Series Weatherproof Electrical Outlet Box Extension, Gray - BELL PBC100GY Weatherproof Device Receptacle Blank Cover, 1-Gang, Gray

Accurate, easy install
Just installed this on my new dewalt air compressor. And ran a 30 min break in on it. I used my timer on phone and the hour meter was right at 6/10's (30min) its accurate and easy to hook up I used a dremel and sanded out the face tab on the meter so I could access the screw for the electrical cover on the air compressor

Price is right
Fits an Edelbrock 1406 Performer series. It’s not great machining but thebajo didn’t break and it didn’t/doesn’t leak. Not sure what else you can ask for. Needed to further stock air cleaner on 1966 Continental- 462cu/in MEL

Accurate, a little loud and long
Contrary to some other reviews, my unit keeps accurate time - I measured it against my cell phone clock for 10 hours. It IS mechanical, so it holds the run hours permanently. The only downside is it can't be reset to zero, nor run backward since it's AC powered. One thing to note is it ticks loudly. In a quiet environment I could hear it from 30 feet away; with computer equipment running, about 15 feet away. If you're using it to measure hours on a noisy machine like a compressor, you won't hear it at all. Note that this counter is fairly long, especially including the male spade connectors sticking out the back. I put it into a 4 inch long project box and it barely fit.

hour meter
I mounted this to my new air compressor to mounter run time to for servicing intervals. Made a 18 gauge sheet metal mount for it and mounted to my air compressor. wired it to one leg of the power to my compressor motor and it works great!
