Prima Cholesterol Test Strips (Pack of 25 pcs)

Only used a few times, but the test strips consistently provide accurate test results. The strips and monitor are high quality, but expensive. Wish they cost less.

i really like being able to monitor what foods affect cholesterol levels and not being surprised at the doctor with a bad report when you do not realize something you ate raised your cholesterol!

You need the test instrument to use these. I bought the instrument but it took a couple of tries to get correct readings. Follow the directions, also the test seems more consistent if you fast overnight and then do it in the morning before breakfast.The other important fact to remember is that you must use enough blood. Wipe off the first small drop then really push a good amount of blood out for the test. I find it also helps to tap the side of the instrument immediately after the blood droplet is on the strip. I now get consistent reading and the system works well. I gave it four stars because it's costly and the company doesn't offer different amounts, 5, 10 strips for example.Before this I bought the strips you 'read' the color line on after a period of time. I found them inconsistent, hard to get accurate readings on, and basically a waste of time, blood and money.I bought the Triglycerides 25 pack also so I could test my friends.Update: 3/2018I tested this unit with my lab. I have found the results to be reliable and within the same range as tests done at the doctor's office. I love the convenience of at home testing.

I don't know if I can trust the results. I did three tests a few minutes apart, from two different batches, and got results varying from 209 to 261. I don't know if the problem is the test strips or the meter I used (Prima Home Test 2 in 1 Self-Testing Kit). Unfortunately, the return policy precludes returning this item.

I had read that cholesterol home tests were accurate so we purchased this. It does take a huge drop of blood. We were able to get nice large drops of blood however, the results still varied greatly. Our cholesterol results varied by as much as 30 points when taken several days in a row. The same happened when testing triglycerides. Total waste of money.

Compared strip readings multiple times with my doctors lab. and results are always identical. Highly recommended for people who want to keep an eye on their cholesterol level in between lab. tests.
