Ancient Egypt: An Illustrated History

Fantastic book
This is quite simply the best book I have ever bought. Totally superb. Slightly larger than A4 it really is a joy to behold. The design and the layout are excellent with lots of photographs that make this a visual experience as well as verbal. The text is clear and quite concise, not rambling on with obscure details that would only interest an Egyptologist. Easy to get so absorbed that you find yourself walking in the Valley of the Kings or scrutinising the murals in the tomb of Tutankhamen. It's so good I immediately bought the companion volumes on Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece. And for £17 it's an absolute giveaway. That's more the price of a paperback rather than a top quality hardback. Don't hesitate to buy before they're all sold out.

Beautifully Presented but (hardback version)
No dispute about the content - really excellent. The materials used areThe images used are high quality and the type face very clear. The first but - the pages are glossy and reflective, so the choice of reading lighting and location is important. The chapters are subject based rather than chronological, not a quibble, but if you are not conversant with the subject matter maybe a bit disconcerting. The second but - the hardback version is heavy, well over a kilo.Overall an excellent reference book.

A really thorough 512 page encyclopedia-like guide to ancient Egypt.
At 512 pages and just a bit larger than A5 this soft cover book is pushing it, as it is a lot for a soft cover. The information inside is precise and soft on, everything you need to know about ancient Egypt from the Gods to the Kings to the Wars and various invasions. It is supported by well written facts, photo's and illustrations. My only gripe is the order of the subjects, it is kinda thrown together in no particular order but saying that my 9 year old who is studying ancient Egypt as one of her topics at school, absolutely loves it!I would thoroughly recommend this book if you are looking for one on ancient Egypt, as at 512 pages you are going to be hard pushed to find anything as encyclopedia-like than this, pity about the order, so marking down a star for that...just don't tell mummy. If you found this review useful then please click the helpful button below, and be sure to check out our other reviews of products you may also consider purchasing from Amazon.
