New life for the old laptop!
I'm not a great writer and don't usually post reviews here, but I took a chance on this item and felt a need to share my experience. I have an old HP ProBook with Windows 10 and an 802.11n wifi adapter connected to a Linksys AC1900 dual band router. My ISP rates my service at up to 200 mbps and I regularly get 210 to 220Mbps on my wired desktop. On the laptop the download speed averages around 50Mbps. I looked at a lot of USB wifi adapters and I ended up choosing this one because of its AC compatibility with a 1200Mbps rating, its compact size, dual band and the USB 3.0. I downloaded the software from the link under the product description. Set up was a snap and I was connected in under 5 minutes. I tried it first in a USB 2.0 slot connected to the 5GHz band and the download speed was not improved, but when I put it in a USB 3.0 slot, it had increased by over 300% and now averages around 170Mbps. In the first 24 hours, it has been stable with no issues. If any of that changes, I will post an update.Good product. Great customer service!

It Works Well
I have Google Fiber, which comes with an AC, N, G wireless router. With this little bugger in a Dell desktop with USB 3.0, I'm getting 780 Mbps. Not the 1200 Mbps promised (thus the lack of a 5th star), but still pretty darn good. By comparison, my old setup over G and USB 2.0 was 54 Mbps.I did have to install the driver before plugging in the nub (Windows 10 Pro, x64). It might work if you are already connected to the Internet and Windows can pull down the driver, but if not the driver is required. Just a heads up for those that don't have an optical drive. It is still pretty easy to copy the DRIVER directory to a USB drive and install from there.

Great WiFi dongle
I was looking for a price worthy (cheap) WiFi option for a small compact PC that I use as an all around set up to watch movies and browse the internet because the PC had no WiFi capabilities. Luckily I came across this and I ordered it and it shipped out fast. It came with a set up disc though I didn't need it as it was already detected and working on a windows 10 based system. If i need something like this for my other computers I will look to getting this one, Originally I was looking for a combo Bluetooth/WiFi dongle but found it cheaper to separate it out not to mention I have plenty of USB ports to use. I would recommend this if you looking for something shipped fast at a good price and working right out of the box, which the packaging was easy to get into also!

Worked well for about 2-years. Stopped working.
It worked really well for about 2-years. Unfortunately it started flaking out recently. Windows would report that the WiFi was available and working but nothing actually connects. I’d have to disconnect and reconnect the dongle to get it to work for a short while but eventually it always stops working again. I swapped back to my old wifi dongle and that one works consistently.

Disc is not required. Plug n play.
For the most part this device worked exactly as needed. I needed an internet connection and could not run a cable to my computer, so I bought this. Even though it came with a disc(I had not optical drive) all I had to do was plug it in and the software immediately installed itself on my computer. Had some odd connection issues in other areas of the house, hence the 4 stars and not 5. But regardless I still get a constant 75-100 down.

High speed USB 3.0 5Mbps wifi adapter
My laptop had a fast USB speed but the wifi adapter in it could only run 2.4Mbps - I put this in the USB slot / disabled the internal Wifi adapter, and installed this one with the installation DVD ROM. It was instant happiness and now I am getting download speeds I couldn't even dream about before. This gave new life to my 3 year old laptop. This external wifi adaptor is worth every bit of the price I paid for it. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Not bad.
This is not bad just a bit hard to get use to at first but in all once you get use to it. It dose gets a bit easier to use .It could use a bit more like a manual about what every thing dose on the adapter I don't think i the quick start guide would be ease for some one that has trouble seeing.

update: not able to achieve higher than 270~ mbps
Update: I recently upgraded to 1000 Mbps Gigablast internet with Cox, and am not able to achieve speeds beyond 270~ Mbps with this USB stick. I have also attached a screenshot of a speed test from my OnePlus 6 Smartphone, which is connected to the same network, and my Smartphone is getting even faster download speeds than this USB stick. I tested another Windows 10 computer with this stick and am getting worse speeds on it (about 250 mbps on that one). USB stick is installed on a USB 3.0 slot. Tried different driver packages and can't seem to get the rated speeds on the 5 GHz network. If you download the Driver Package listed above in the item description it will also install the REALTEK Wireless LAN Utility, which will cause several problems on Windows 10. The first problem is that the adapter will shut itself off when downloading large files (such as 40 GB games on Steam). The second problem is that the adapter will randomly disconnect and reconnect several times. This was happening on two separate PC's, both with Windows 10.The work-around is to remove the REALTEK WIRELESS UTILITY folder listed in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Realtek" You will also need to go to Windows Services (accessible by pressing Windows Key + R then typing in services.msc) and DISABLE the "RealtekWlanU" service.Downloaded several large files and have not had the issue again. Realtek should not include its own Wireless LAN utility with its driver package; it will constantly battle with the built-in Windows wireless utility.
