Romantic Fantasy based on Celtic mythology
KMM's characters (especially the men) have a depth of emotion and honor that completely draw me in as a reader. Book 2 in the Highlander series is the love story between Grimm (a supporting character from book 1) and Jillian. They have been in love with each other since childhood, but both have their reasons for keeping their feelings hidden.Grimm was born as Gavrael McIllioch, but after witnessing his family's destruction as a child at the hands of their enemies, he took the name Grimm and started a new life for himself in hiding. It is Jillian's family who takes him in and raises him after finding him alone in the wilderness. He stays with them until he is discovered and Jillian's family is attacked, then he leaves and begins anew again. It isn't until Jillian's father sends him a note asking him to come for Jillian that Grimm finally returns. He finds himself in competition with 2 other men for her hand in marriage. Even though he has no intention of marrying her, he remains at her home. From the beginning of this story, we know that Grimm and Jillian are destined to be together, but Grimm doesn't want to endanger her life by pursuing the relationship. Jillian is stubborn and persistent and will not let him go. She is a strong female character, and I loved that she refused to give up on her man.Grimm is hunted because he, along all of the men in his clan, are Berserkers; a clan of men with superior strength, speed and senses who are identified by their unusual blue eyes. These men are not immortal, but they are extremely difficult to kill and therefore make ideal warriors. I absolutely loved that KMM also made these men completely monogamous - when they find their true mate, there will never be another no matter how long they live. **sigh** So romantic. There are a few key differences between this book and the first in the series. This story does not include any references to the Fae world. I was a little worried that the lack of Fae involvement would take some of the fantasy out of the story, but that was definitely not the case. KMM instead introduced us to the world of the Berserkers from Celtic mythology which was interesting as well.Another difference is that this story did not include any time travel or 21st century storyline like the first book did. It wasn't missed at all, but it does make me wonder if the time travel from the first book was an anomaly or if it will come up again in the series. It wasn't clear to me until I read this book that this series isn't one continuous story - it's a collection of individual stories with a few common characters or themes. With that being the case, I suppose there could be completely different circumstances and mythological characters in each book. One minor issue was that a few characters did not receive closure to their storylines. For example, Zeke (a small boy who becomes important to both Jillian and Grimm) never gets any closure to his story. He doesn't even make an appearance at the end of the book. I was disappointed about this because I really wanted him to get his happily ever after too, even if it had been only in the epilogue. The same was true of a couple other secondary characters also.Overall I'm very happy with how this Highlander series is progressing. I'm hoping that I'll have a few 5 star ratings in this series before it is over.I recommend this book to anyone who loves Highlander novels, anyone who loves a romance novel with a paranormal/supernatural twist, and even to fans of historical romance. This story fits nicely into any of these genres.

A BEAUTIFUL ROMANCE!!
I am re reading the KMM Highlander series for the 2nd time and I am enjoying the stories as much as I did a few years ago. To Tame A Highland Warrior is the story of Jillian and Grimm. Jillian has loved Grimm she she was a very young girl. She comes across a 16 yr old Grimm starving and living in the forest around her fathers Keep. They becomes friends. Grimm has run away from his home and father because their castle was attacked by the McClain Clan and he believes everyone has been killed and his home and village has been burned down. Grimm also, believes his father killed his mother the same day as the attack occurred. During the attack on his castle/keep by the McClain clan Grimm calls upon the god Oden to turn him into a Berserker so he can help defend his home and village.Grimm has been fostered by Jillians father and as time goes on he fall in love with her but never tells. He doesn't want her to know he is a Berserker. Grimm feels so ashamed and unworthy of Jillian. The Keep is attacked years later by the the McClains who are still trying to capture and kill Grimm because he is a Berserker and they believe he is evil. Grimms help defend the Keep and they defeat the McCalin clan, but he feels he must leave to protect Jillian and her family from more attacks.Years later Grimm is summoned by Jillians father to come back. It is time for her to wed and she has 3 choices of course Grimm is one of them. Her father is determined she will wed. I won't say anymore this is a very good story and the end is so beautiful and it will make you happy. Grimm and Juliann get a great fairytale HEA.

A fun romance
“‘I am doing the honorable thing.’‘To hell with the honorable thing,’ she shouted. ‘Love has no pride. Love looks for ways to endure.’‘Jillian, stop. You want more from me than I’m capable of’”In To Tame a Highland Warrior by Karen Marie Moning we get to read Grimm’s story. Grimm was born to a family of supernatural highland warriors, and thinks that he is cursed to hurt the ones he loves, or at least bring destruction to their lives. Jillian has loved Grimm since she was a girl, but he ran from her and broke her heart. When Jillian’s father secretly arranges for three men to compete for Jillian’s heart and hand in marriage, Grimm and Jillian are thrown back together and must decide if they can overcome their fears and hurts with their love. This was a fun romantic escape read. It’s cheesy, it’s dramatic and angsty. Just the kind of read I was in the mood for. I give it 4 stars.

Love
Jillian and Grimm are a great addition to the series. Yes standalone but love knowing more about characters from previous books. Great writing that gives a real feel for the characters, time and place. Definitely a recommended read

Good read
This is Karen Marie Moning's book 2 in her Highlander Series, in which Grimm finds his deliverance from all his inner demons. (Grimm is a character from the first book in her Highlander Series.) This title is also every bit as good as her other highlander novels, and is full of action, adventure, tension, and of course romance. This book opens where book one leaves off, with Hawk and Adrianne blissfully happy but trying to find happiness for their friend Grimm. Then a summons calls Grimm back to his foster family, where he will face old demons, and old feelings. This book is a great way to pass the time, and I enjoyed the story immensely. The only drawback was towards the end, where again I felt that she wrapped up the story in a neat little bow a little quickly for my taste. It was almost as if the deadline was fast approaching and she needed to finish up quick- and it left me a little unsatisfied. However, I did enjoy the book overall, and would recommend to anyone who enjoys Scottish romances, and highland legends. Oh, and knowledge of her previous highlander novel is not needed to enjoy this book, even though it uses characters from her previous books, and references them as well- it is not important to the plot in this book.

Highland Warrior meets his match
This is the second in Karen Marie Moning's Highland romance tales. I read this after reading her other highlander romances, mostly as the orginal blurb did not particularly draw me in. When I had read the others I picked this up more for completeness and wanting to re-enter that world, rather than because the book drew me individually. Having said that, I really enjoyed this book, so I am glad I got around to it eventually. It is the story of Gavrael ("Grimm") and Jillian. Grimm was introduced in the first book (Beyond the Highland Mist). Unlike her other stories, Jillian lives in the same time as Grimm, so there is no time travel element to this story. As with KMM's other romances, this had a good plot with well developed characters. Their relationship developed at a believable pace and the building of chemistry between them was good. I like how Jillian's character developed and how she was persistent in trying to win Grimm's affections. There was also a good part of the story that continued after they connected, which is always fun to read about. What I found a bit (and only a tiny bit) difficult was that the story did not quite fit with either book 1 or indeed the subsequent highland romances KMM has written. The fae play no part in this book, whereas they have quite central roles in the other tales. Jillian's parents are introduced as charcters that seem to have a detailed backstory, that you feel you should know more about, but of course we don't and since they do not appear in any other books, it feels a little disorienting. We do see Hawk and Adrienne from book one again, but I felt that the meeting with the two women was somewhat contrived as during their first meeting Adrienne launches suddenly into mentioning time travel. There are supernatural elements to this story too, but not as per her other books, so readers looking for that may be disappointed. However, if read as a standalone romance, without reference to the other books, I would say it is a 4 or 5 star read. KMM has developed a good plot, great characters and a lovely progression of the relationship between the protagonists. If you are new to her books I would probably recommend reading this first, then Book 1 (Beyond the Highland Mist) then follow with the later books - all of which get better and better, so you will have plenty of hot highland romance to look forward to!

a berserker
Another good yarn from the immortal highlander series. This ones about Grimm who fights off his affections for Jillian for years only to give in. He's cursed with being a berserker and after seeing his father stood over his dead mother he assumes that when he's in berserker rage he will kill anything in his path including the woman he loves. There's a bloody good story in this and like the other book of this series I was riveted. Not much magic but still plenty of plotting and scheming and a bit of sex (could have been more but there you go).

I Love Karen Marie Moning
I Love Karen Marie Moning. I bought these books after reading books 1 -7 of the Fever series as they are distantly connected to the story line. I love that the female characters in her books are not weak willed heroines, they want something , they go get it, whilst i didnt find the female character in this book particularly as kick ass as some of the others its still a must read for any KMM fans
