The Beatles for Fingerstyle Ukulele

I don't write many reviews. But felt compelled to praise this book - mostly because I did not expect to love this book. As a lower-intermediate player (playing for just over a year) I find this book perfect for my abilities. I can usually learn a song in about 1 hour (by learn, I mean that after an hour I can stumble my way through the song by memory). It will still take many days or weeks to really get good at it. But the songs are wonderful. I also really like the size and fonts used in this book. The physical size of the book is larger than most others that I own, and the fonts are larger - makes it much easier to read the tabs. Even though we all know these Beatles songs through and through, I still find it helpful to be able to hear the song played as it has been arranged. Well, Fred has made that available for all of the songs in this book (I don't think most people know this). On youtube, under the channel "Fred Sokolow - Topic" you can hear each and every one of the songs in this book played exactly as presented in the book. Thank you Fred. I wish more authors would do this. You can also go have a listen to see what these arrangements will sound like before you buy to see if they appeal to you. So glad I bought this book!

This just arrived today. I have not used it yet, just viewed it, so I am not sure if their interpretations of these Beatles songs are to my liking. If they are not, I will post an addition to this review later. I have bought "Beatles for Ukulele" books before, base on the songs listed. Many of them I did not care for in structure, print or size. WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS BOOK. It is organized and printed well, not tiny and light. They start each song with a short story. They show complete sheet music, with words, chords and tabs. I will post photos so you can see the break down. The photos will not be full pages. Buy the book for full pages. :)

I wish there were a hundred more books like this one. I love that it provides the chords for the songs, but also the tab for fingerpicking the melody and chords. I can play the songs solo, or as a background for people to sing along with. Most of the songs are easy to moderate in difficulty, and I had no difficulty as a beginner navigating them. I would recommend this to any ukulele player who loves the Beatles.

This book is great. It is full of Beatles songs that we all know and love, and the arrangements are FANTASTIC.Background: While I personally consider myself a beginner player, having started playing stringed instruments as an adult and putting in maybe 1.5 solid years of practice, I think that as far as music instruction books -- at least for the Uke -- I am an intermediate. Almost all of the sheet music I have seen for Uke is just lyrics and chords, and maybe a line of melody if you're lucky. Basically a "fake book" like any other, but with chord diagrams for Uke. Kind of pathetic, really. I am certainly not a good enough player to layer together melody and chords on my own, so a book like this that arranges the melody and chords together is just what I want. If you have progressed past the point of playing chords and strumming, this book will give you lots of material to work on, with results that are worth the effort you put in.Five solid stars. If only there were more uke books like this.

You will LOVE this book. My personal thanks to the author! There ARE tabs for finger picking ALL songs. Even my instructor enjoys this book. I"m a beginner, and this book is so fun I can't wait to play daily. As a beginner, the first time I played from the book, my husband was surprised at how soon I played something he recognized. If you're a beginner, I recommend avoiding the syncopated songs at first (eg can't buy my love, and i love her). Start with Norwegian wood.

My book came a little mangled in delivery but no matter. These are great sounding arrangements! Look this book title up on YouTube and you can hear all the songs in the book as played by the author/arranger. If u are a guitar player picking up uke as I am, u have the chops to play this little instrument and just need something to help u hit the ground running. This book provides assessable quality sounding finger style arrangements you can get under your hands and start performing great stand alone uke tunes right out of the gate. Loving this book. Beautiful and playable! By the way, if you also Want to strum along and sing - cause there is nothing wrong with that either - this book also provides the lead sheets with lyrics and chords after The stand alone arrangement of each tune. Best uke book ever!

I'm definitely not a fan of the kindle version of the book, I have a Surface PC, a Kindle, and an iPad, and trying to read the music on the kindle version is horrible. You can zoom in, but only the words in other parts of the book get larger and the graphic of the tablature/sheet music stays small.On another note, I did learn to play a couple of Beatles songs using this book, so the accuracy of the tab is great for those who want to learn. I would recommend that a person interested in this, buy the non-electronic options or have great eyes.

I didn't realize how wonderful Beatles songs sound on the UKE! who would have thought? I know that Paul and George both played the uke when they were writing songs, but I guess I didn't think about trying that myself! The songs are chorded well! and most of them sound great on the uke! what a surprise! Go ahead! You can play all of them. The only ones that are challenging make it more fun!

A good collection of beatles songs in fingerstlyle tab if you want something fun to play while working on improving your fingerstyle playing along with a basic chords version of each song if you are just in the mood for a sing along.

Excellent, could be used by players at any level, either just chords, or, for more advanced players using notation to play the piece as a solo. Generally an impressive book

Born in the 50's I love Beatles music but my first attempt at buying something I could play on my Uke failed as the book I bought just had the cords, this is a vast improvement as it offers 25 Beatles classics in tab and note form, it's brilliant.

I found this book useful. I especially liked that it had strumming versions of each song in addition to fingerstyle.

Amazing Book i loved it

Excellent but it would be somuch easier to use the book. I am sure that this is true of all sheet music. I feel that these are ukulele transcription of the original arrangements rather than ukulele friendly versions.

songs are harder than I thought. The finger picking will take some studying for someone who has been playing a couple of years.

This is the ideal ukulele book format.First, it has the song in music notation, with chords, for strumming, tab for fingerpicking, and the words.Then it has the lyrics version with the chords written above the words.This is an all inclusive format for singers, strummers, and fingerpickers.This is the only book I have found in this format.I wish there were more books in this format. I would buy them all.
