Design Engineering 010496 ONYX Series 4" x 8" Pipe Heat Shield with Stainless Steel Clamps

I own Husqvarna 701 Enduro motorcycle, original heat shield of that bike covers only rear part of exhaust pipe that runs at height of ankle and does its job real well. However when you fall off the bike and that happens on frequent basis when riding mountain single tracks pipe just burns holes in your pants melts plastic on boots and eventually you get tired of it. Melted bits on pipe do not add to aesthetics of bike. So this appeared to be perfect fix. It still gets very hot and you will not be able to hold your finger to it more than 2 seconds, however it is not hot enough to burn through things any more. And that solves my issues completely. I will add picture later. Looks good on bike. I do strongly recommend it good value for money.

Exactly what I needed. So I have a 2001 jeep cherokee (xj). It's been lifted 2.5 inches to get rid of the shitty, small, stock tires and put in some Yokohama 30's. Small enough lift to look natural with the bigger tires, but apparently enough of an issue to make the exhaust hit the leaf spring. The exhaust hanger could be taken off and replaced with some janky rig made of clamps but I didn't want it jumping around with a temporary fix. Figured this would be perfect. Can't get melted by the exhaust, won't rub away from the leaf spring bolt, and is soft enough to make it stop clanking. It's literally perfect for what I needed. Stopped the noise and it was cheaper/easier than cutting and reconfiguring the exhaust.

Put this on my vstar 1100 rear pipe where it comes out of the head. Pipe was insanely hot before. This shield gets hot but not as hot as the bare pipe. It’s tolerable. Took it for a ride and I was happy with the protection it provides. I think it’s a little over priced for what it is. Will probably buy another for the lower pipe.

I've been rehabbing an old Kawasaki Prairie 300 atv. The oem heat shields were doing nothing but rattling on the pipe. So I yanked them off and wrapped the pipe in fiber glass wrap. The wrap helps but it wasn't enough protection and the fenders were smoking. I got this to beef things up. It was a little tricky to get the clamps right FOR ME because of where I needed it to go. If your pipe is exposed it'd only take 5-10 min vs 20. I'm going to buy a second though to put next to this one! It worked great on a test drive.

This shield will protect you if the exhaust was ice cold!! I tried this shield on a minibike exhaust.. And after riding the minibike that exhaust was so hot I even wrapped it three times with exhaust wrap underneath.. And that shield still got so hot you couldn’t touch it with your hand.. Only good thing about that shield is it doesn’t start on fire!! I wouldn’t recommend that shield for anything!!!

This has helped me a lot with the heat on my leg . Put on after market pipes and boy they will fry u and this has made riding much easier

I purchased this after having a pair of waterproof pants melt on my pipe. The spot where they melted is a sharp downward curve so I needed something flexible to cover it. I didn't expect it to look smooth and it doesn't but it does work. I was able to reach down and put my hands directly on the heat shield (something I do not recommend and am not liable for if you do) without getting burned at all. The only thing that I wish was different is if there was some sort of high heat silicone where the brackets touch the pipes so they don't get scratched if it gets removed. Other than that, exactly what I needed.

Quality and heat resistance will be fine, just wished you would have sent smaller hose clamps, or at this premium price include a 2nd smaller set of hose clamps. Most pipes are ~ 2.5-3” diameter, these clamps are 5-6” or so and have a lot of excess that doesn’t tuck cleanly leaving bulges. I’m going to need a trip to hardware store to purchase smaller stainless clamps for cleaner install.

I purchased two of these heat shields to prevent burns on my legs. I wasn't sure if they would work well, but assumed that if a turbo blanket is built like this, it should do the job better than anything else. Installation was incredibly easy. Took about 10 mins. Quality of product was fantastic. And as you can see in the video. The stainless exhaust is up to 100*C after a very spirited ride, and I was able to lay and hold my hand on the shields. I highly recommend this product. I only wish i could get another couple or a 10"x4" version.
