GUITAR TECH UKULELE MACHINEHEADS -2+2, GT450

Cannot believe how good these machine heads are considering the price : They feel very smooth, with no undue play between the worm gear and pinion : Take note that the posts are 25mm high. My ukulele has a 12mm headstock and these fit ok, bearing in mind that the strings stretch for ever and you will end up with the string wound well down the post in any event.

They look well made and I was able to fit them easily. They work well. Recommended.

I have recently bought and fitted these to two of my soprano ukuleles. The first were to replace worn 10-year old tuners on a budget Hondo.This second set are for my new Kiwaya £110 ‘student’ soprano on which cosmetic imperfections can be overlooked but the tuners, strings and fret dressing all needed changing or rectifying.You can see how much better these GuitarTech tuners are by looking at the product picture. Tuning buttons attach to a worm gear located within full circular holes in the base plate. The worm and cog are therefore held at the right distance apart and the ‘play’ between them is consistent for all four tuners. The low quality tuners being replaced held the worm in C shaped slots (actually more square than round!j that resulted in varying amounts of play and imprecision.The only problem with both sets is GuitarTech only seem to make a 26.5mm spindle version where the string hole is centred 21mm from the base. My soprano ukuleles with a 12mm headstock would benefit from a 23.5mm spindle with a string hole centred 18.3mm from the base. I managed to swap spindles from old to new on first set but not the second as the GuitarTech cogs are slot keyed spindles where the originals had hex keying. The resulting string break angle over the nut still seems OK but ideally would be a bit sharper.I have bought these before and would buy them again for ‘player’ ukuleles. I would go for brands starting G for ‘lookers’ ukes but there is nothing wrong with these that I can see. They look and feel high quality.

Super Qualität, Löcher konnten mit 8-er Holzbohrer passend gebohrt werden. Ukulele ist seitdem immer gut gestimmt.
