kinda brutal just spears right through scales scared me thought was going to punch a scale through swim bladder . better off getting your own syrenges throwing away the plunger and throat fizzing .

Cheap product that works. The cap falls off far too easily. They should also have a way of stashing extra needles in the handle.

It's not the best made. It comes apart VERY easily then you have a loss needle in your bag. Also it came with a clear coating of a glue / sap like substance over the blue plastic. It was very sticky and I put in a return for it. Amazon did not want the item back and they sent me another one that was covered in the same glue that got all over your hands and gear.If it didn't come with the glue and didn't fall apart it would be great...

It's simple and safe, needle is hidden until you push the button on the opposite end. Needles are changeable with over the counter needles, so no need to buy a new venting tool when the needle gets dull.

I purchased this because it has replaceable needles. The problem is that my local drug store told me they can't sell needles with out a prescription that requires them. Moreover, there are regulations for properly disposing of these needles. I am not psychic but I since a fixed needle venting tool in my future.UPDATE:After some more research I decided a recompress tool would be a better solution. NOAA said that a recompress device is a better solution to fish barotrauma than a venting tool.
