Sara Midda Baby Book

I used a different baby book with each of my three kids, and this was my last and favorite one (book, not kid). The illustrations are charming, and the book is more free-form than most baby books, so with this one I don't look back and feel guilty about vast blank patches from questions I didn't answer (First giggle? Uhhh...I have no idea what day that happened.) It has some sweet prompts and vague guidance but mostly allows you to expound on the things meaningful to you about your family and your baby's development. I have since gifted it to two other moms to be, and both loved it.

This book was recommended by my friend...it literally covers everything. There are plenty of blank pages for you to add things that aren't in the book.Lots of blank spots where you can add a picture to a description. For instance..."Why This Name?" Or two blank pages for "First Day"...you have a choice to write an essay or just a few lines with pictures. Fantastic.I bought this for both of my kids...I am redoing my 4 yr olds and waiting on my next one to get here to start filling.Lastly, the beautiful illustrations really finish this book...they don't overwhelm where you've written or pasted pictures...lovely water colors and good, thick pages.

I've enjoyed this so much...twice. Each page has a different topic to document. I liked that there was a pregnancy/about mom/about dad/family tree section that I could write in while pregnant. And then there are so many other fun, different page topics (tantrums, lullabies, nighttime rituals, etc.). There is even a little envelope inside to include a lock of hair. I love this and have also bought it for pregnant friends. Great baby book!

I wish I had known the headings in this book before buying. It does it have traditional month by month headings, instead the headings are experiential mostly. I liked this so much for my first baby that I have already purchased another to use for the next expected baby. I like that there was minimal fill-in-the-blank (because I always feel bad leaving blanks, but didn't always have anything applicable to fill in for each and every question) and there is a ton of space for narratives & anecdotes. Plus, the design is beyond adorable.

I bought this on the great reviews. I should not have listened. This book is all about the author. Notice her name prominently displayed on the front cover. The drawings are cute but there are too many pages on items that should take a couple of lines. This book is all about making the authors' art look nice than telling the story about your baby. I w rote a few lines in it already and then got mad so I can't return it. Now I must throw this away and get another baby book.

There are any number of baby books, but this is the most comprehensive and creative, allowing parents to create a fuller view of their baby's developing life. It isn't just fill-in the blanks, it allows one to really remember and record memories, highlights, and touchstones.

A previous review said that it's not detailed enough with instructions. I disagree. It's a well thought out first year account of your baby's life. With plenty of space of photos and keepsake options. Beautifully illustrated and sometimes even funny.
