The Night She Disappeared

It was pretty good
This is more about her friends and how they go through the process of her disappearance vs her experience being kidnapped. It’s definitely well written just not what I expected.

Good Writing
Drew, Kayla and Gabie work at Pete's Pizza. They get along okay, but they aren't exactly friends. One night Drew takes a phone order. Kayla delivers the pizza. She never returns. As I read, I kept wondering what happened to hope. Why didn't more people believe Kayla could still be alive? The thinking of most of the characters was so... morbid. I guess some people are interested in death as long as it's not theirs.I liked Gabie and Drew. Sergeant Thayer got on my nerves. I had to shake my head at Elizabeth Lamb and even laugh a couples of times. And then I wondered how many innocent men ended up in jail because of her. This story evoked strong emotions, and I could visualize scenes as if I was watching a movie. Good writing.

Great Mystery
I bought this book years ago for my 9th grade English class. I love it and so do my classes. The author has several other books that are great as well.

Did not see that coming!
I got this book after reading another book April Henry wrote.I am so glad I did. This book starts off were a teenage girl goes missing after delivering pizzas.Soon it is found out that the guy whom took her really didn't want her he wanted her co-worker.Police are working endless to find her in time. Will it be to late to save Kayla? Will Gabie be able to get past the fact the guy wanted her and not Kayla? This book will leave you on the edge of your seat till the last page.I enjoyed this book I would read it again and tell everyone about it.5 starsRead and reviewed by Mellisa

Realistic and suspenseful
Strong plot and character development. Gaby and Drew are high school students (from completely different backgrounds and temperaments) and coworkers in a pizza parlor whose lives intersect when Kayla, another schoolmate and coworker at the pizza parlor gets kidnapped. The pizza parlor experience is very well described, and the interactions between high school kids from different social circles was pretty spot-on. The author captures the high school mentality and angst very well. High suspense thriller.

could not find this book in any local stores. ...
could not find this book in any local stores. The author was coming to visit and each student was allowed to get a book signed. My daughter really wanted this one because she said "April Henry must have stalked her" There were a lot of similarities in the books character. I believe Ms. Henry actually signed it with I didn't stalk you.

I hate reading but...
I usually do not read at all but this book was fantastic. I couldn't put it down and within two days had finished it. Loving this author!

Felt incomplete
I have been a fan or other books by April Henry but this one did not seem finished to me. Ms. Henry spent quite a bit of time developing the relationship between Gabie and Drew and then everything ended fairly abruptly as the problem was resolved.I am not usually drawn to books with much violence, but I felt the writing was so good in other books I read by this author (particularly The Girl Who Was Supposed to Die), I was able to handle it. In this case, I had skip over the scenes between the kidnapper and Kayla-just too much for me.

Buy this book.
Easy reading, when I put this book down I couldn't wait to start reading it again. I don't have a lot of time for reading but somehow got through it really quickly.
