S4Gear LockDownX Binocular Harness - Highly Useful!
I recently bought the S4Gear LockDown X Binocular Harness in order to easily carry my Zeiss Terra ED 10x42mm binoculars into the field. This harness nails it, folks! It is Comfortable, Practical and Technically Well Designed. All of the weight is distributed away from my neck through the other strap pathways. I can carry the binocs high on my chest where they stay without bouncing around. When the binoculars are put to use, the secure lines from the straps near the top of the shoulders to the holdfasts on the binocular barrels are long enough to be out of my way with no tension when viewing, and short enough to allow the binoculars to hang past the chest case when resting. When ready to move again, the binocs slip back into the chest casing easily and securely with hardly any effort. Great design, great idea, great execution! I'm returning the nearly useless Zeiss brand harness I first purchased before trying the LockDown X harness! I don't think I'll ever use the neck strap again either. Note: This harness was designed to be used with Roof Prism style binoculars; Probably Not very useful for the Porros prism type of binoculars. Quality seems good, time will tell but initially I'm very happy
Everything about this harness is well made and keeps the binocs tight to my chest. Quality seems good, time will tell but initially I'm very happy. The only downside, and why I didn't give it 5 stars is that it does not work well with wide binocs. Unless you have narrow binocs a lot of the lens will be sticking out the sides of the carrier both top and bottom which will allow snow, rain etc to get on them.

good idea, just not quite there
The top flap was too narrow - did not fully cover my 10x42 Lecia Ultravid binoculars. The bottom and top flaps should have sides of some sort - maybe elastic. The strap clip should be changeable so you can use the OP/Tech buckle clips to make it easy to switch from the Harness to a OP/Tech neck strap.

NOT FOR SMALL PEOPLE.
THIS HARNESS WILL NOT WORK FOR A SHORT PERSON WITH A SMALL FRAME.

Much better way to carry and protect your glass.
So far looks great, we will see how it does on the trails in Yellowstone this summer. This will be much faster than using the manufacturers cases and eye covers. Since most serious folks use the diopter settings your glass does tend to be specific to the user and thus a harness really makes sense. Bought two one for my meopta and one for my swarovski.

Sits on the top part of your tummy and not your chest and I'm 6'2". Uncomfortable. No adjustment to bring it higher.
The harness is just a harness and definitely not a chest harness like I expected. It sits right in the middle of your sternum. That means 1/2 on your tummy and 1/2 on your chest. Who wants it rubbing on your stomach? There was no adjustment to bring it higher and I'm 6'2". I took two photos to illustrate. The thumbs down one is how it's made and the thumbs up one is where I think it should be but can't be because of lack of adjustment. I'm trying to decide if I should modify it...what a pain though. Too bad. My hunter buddy recommended it but I guess he does not mind it sitting on his stomach. If I could remove about 3-4" of the back vertical strap then it would be perfect. Comments?
