Deneb Sector (Traveller) Paperback – July 1, 2014

Product was up to the usual quality of Traveller products.

Decent book, 120 pages. first 60 are timeline with a number of historical maps and various other details, last 60 are sections on the subsectors with maps and a description in detail of two worlds there. compared to the spinward marches, the layout is a bit looser, and the quality of the maps a little worse- the large subsector maps look a bit pixalated. in some cases, the details about a map are on the back side of the same page, requiring some page-flipping to really use the map. while in two cases this is because the chart was for two sectors presented side by side, in most other cases it is simply an example of lazy layout (7 out of 16 maps). the cause for the difference seems to be because this book was published by 'Studio 2'. there are 2 completely blank pages at the end of this book(121-124), so the cramped style of some maps is not for lack of paper. furthermore, the maps lack a key for some of the terms used under trade routes, which do not seem to be from the mongoose traveller main book.on the upside, this work has some wonderful notes for various different eras of the sector, and two new ships (2000 tons and 800 tons) as well as 14 minor races, some extinct. overall a good book for traveller, despite some laziness in the maps half of the book that will be most peoples primary reason to purchase it.

The book is a very good description of a sector for Traveller's universe. It keeps the spirit of the original series (I have been a Traveller fan since the 80s!). The quality of the covers and paper is good, regular paper but I prefer it over the new fashion of RPG books with very shiny colorful paper that actually makes things difficult to read. I don't put a 5 star because I am missing a reference map with the whole Traveller's universe to see where the Deneb sector sits compared to other sectors.
