I bought this for my elderly mother so that she would not have to maneuver her walker down the hall to the bathroom multiple times in the middle of the night. I was just hoping she would be willing to use it at night for safety and convenience, but I feared she'd reject it on sight. Turns out she likes it so much she uses it during the day! In fact, she only goes down the hall to her bathroom when she wants to brush her teeth or take a shower. This commode is VERY sturdy and stable and the hand rails are at just the right height for her to get herself up and down. I did not realize it would come with such a sturdy bucket with a lid; I was expecting an open hospital style basin. I also wasn't expecting sample liners with gel pads to absorb liquid. I didn't know those even existed! The first few days I took the whole bucket outside to tie up the bag and dump it, but there is absolutely no leakage, so it's easy to just tie up the bag and take that out by itself. I did some searching and found a different brand of liners/pads which was MUCH less expensive than the brand supplied with this chair and everything is working great. Every day my mother comments on how much she likes not having to trek all the way down the hall with her walker. I can't recommend this highly enough!Update: I noticed the negative reviews about this being too small and flimsy. Please note that my mom is 4' 10" and weighs 100 lbs. It's PLENTY sturdy for her.

About a year ago my mother hurt herself in the master "super" shower we had. After six-weeks in hospital and various rehab/physical therapy centers she was able to come home. Initially we were using this so it would be easy for her to get on and off the toilet. When she came home we moved her to a different bedroom with a bathroom which had a regular walk-in shower. Once she strong enough to be able to get on and off the toilet with her own strength we put this in shower for her to use. We'had the product for over a year now. It is very sturdy, very easy to assemble and if needed to adjust.

I bought two of these for my mother. They are very easy to assemble and are very sturdy. I love that it has so many height levels. My mother really needs this for the bars more than the higher seat (at this time), but I like that we have the option to raise the seat as she needs it. Confirming that you can use this over a toilet and do not have to attach the bowl below. Very, very pleased with this product. Very good value.

Following my husband's hip replacement, he needed added height to be able to use our bathroom. This really fit the bill and he continues to use it to make it easier 6 months later! It is easy to clean and lightweight to handle for ease of cleaning around. The only caution I would add is that if a person is over 250 lbs., this may be a little too lightweight for them and it could bend the frame. It supported 220 just fine! Thanks for a great product at a good price!

i bought this to replace a raised screw on type toilet seat (that always wobbled) for my dad. I placed it right over the toilet (w/o bucket) and he said that he is now able to use the bathroom by himself and because of the how sturdy it is with the high arms - he can stand up by himself. He is much happier Dad now, gaining some privacy and independance. If anyone needs to use the bathroom you can slide it out of the way very easily. If things changed we can use this in his room, with the bucket inserted, I also purchased pads and bags for the bucket - just in case. This is a product offers flexibility of how you want to use it, adjustable legs, high arms and sturdiness. After 1 month of use we are very happy with it.

My 89-year-old husband is recovering from spinal surgery and has poor balance. This chair has been a godsend in helping him regain his ability to use the toilet without assistance. Quickly, we dispensed with the pot and use it over the toilet, taking advantage of the higher seat and side supports. The unit is just stable enough -- my husband can push up on the arms, then uses the sink counter on one side and a high grab bar on the other to get himself standing and steady. He is pretty skinny at 5'10" and 150 lbs, so I can't offer advice to a larger person.

All was very good except I purchased this for a large man (6ft 2 in) 200 lbs. He just doesn’t fit on the seat. If there were an option to purchase a larger seat I’d do so. But, I can’t return this so am looking for someone who can use it.
