This product was brought on a guess that it would solve a charging problem. We scheduled to have the geek squad repair it but cancelled after the new charger solved the problem. It was going to be expensive if they told us the batteries had to be replaced. Yes, it has two batteries. Since we didn't know what was wrong with the Microsoft Surface Book 13". Yes, I would recommend this charger if your Surface book doesn't charge and the charger light remains off when you connect it. Have a great day/evening/night/life. I normally don't write reviews but unfortunately many companies are preventing us from having our electronics repaired or are making it expensive for a repair forcing you to think it better to buy a new item. This just creates more landfill wasted and some computer material are toxic to animals and the environment, Support the right to repair in your state. Would you buy a car that had the battery welded inside the engine and you already knew the car battery had a useful life of 3 to 4 years which is the normal car batteries useful life? Well! We all do it now when buying electronics that have the battery sealed (all rechargeable battery have a limited recharge ability. I was told the surface book has about 2000 chargers before the batteries fail. Have a great day cover your mouth and nose and wash your hands. I ordered the charger for my Surface Book in July 2019, and it lasted me until January 2020. I enjoyed using it much more than the original chargers because it lasted longer before breaking, it charged faster, and didn't get as hot while working. The replacement process since the charger was still within the 1-year warranty was very easy. However, I feel like the replacement that I received was not as good as the first one I received. While it still charges my computer, there are many times that it simply says "plugged in, not charging." This would not be an issue if I wanted to stay connected to the charger for long periods of time, but I would like it if the charger reliably charged like the previous one I had. Sometimes I have to flip it from one direction or the other, or jiggle it in place, and sometimes it just starts charging again on its own. When it does work, it works quickly.

Keep it in my brief case...works just like OEM unit

So 1st off, it did last me about 8 months without any problems. So I can give them that. Whether it having more power that the manufacturers has affected my battery life, I can't say. I try to take care of my stuff, and I try to leave a little space at the base when I put my cords away, but I'm always on the go and I had a similar issue with my original one so I can't say that I'm not to blame. However, when the original one started to break near the base, I noticed it because my computer stopped charging. This one I noticed because I smelled fire and looked over and saw smoke pouring up from the charger. It was sitting on wood, so I don't have much doubt that if I wasn't there, I could have caught the house on fire.Like I said, I did have a similar issue with the manufacturer's cord, so I am to blame for a fault, but the degree of fault and associated danger are not even close in comparison between the two. The one closest to the camera is the original surface charger and the one furthest is the runpower one. I take my cord in and out of my backpack all the time, so I would have seen a build up of starting to tear, but this just went form 0 to 100 in one second. It wasn't a sort of tear it was a complete catastrophe. But you can see the material quality and the wiring material is different between the two. I don't know what kind of conductor they are using for the wire strands, but it is low quality.

When I was researching off-brand chargers for the Microsoft surface there were a lot of warnings. This one had the best reviews so I gave it a tentative chance. When I first started charging with it, I did notice my computer get a little hot. In response, I turned my computer off and let it come to full charge and was careful not to use it while the computer was on. After about a week everything worked fine. The computer stopped getting super hot while plugged in.

My Surface Book battery expanded damaging my Surface Book, and Microsoft replaced it. Oddly enough, my original power supply would not work when connected in both directions, it would only work when the cord ran toward me, hence I could no longer connect an external monitor while the power supply was attached. But it would not work when connected the other way (weird, I know). So I bought this as a replacement and it works when connected either way/direction (just like with my original Surface Book). It also supplies more power (amps) than my original power supply (but the same amps as my newer secondary/backup power supply that I bought from Microsoft). So, perhaps it's an amps issue, but either way this supply is working great and was an inexpensive replacement to my old power supply.

Needed a spare power cord and this fits the bill!

I used this charger for just over a year as a spare around the house and kept the original with me for use when away. The charger stopped charging the battery though the light would turn on after just over a year.Can't seem to see why it doesn't work.Looks very similar to the original and feel like the original. With less regulatory stamps. Unfortunately, it didn't last.

I bought this for my sons Surface Pro after he asked me to bring him the original one after he left it at home.This is just as good as the original and looks and works the same for a fraction of the price. You should always have several chargers at different places and leave them there. When I buy a new laptop I buy three and leave one by my bed, one in my office and one by my TV. For the price you can buy the original or several to leave in different places.

I bought this charger because it was cheaper than the official Microsoft one but the thing completely died in a few months so I'll end up spending more. The part that plugs into the surface was burning hot and started smoking. I feel very lucky that I was using the laptop when it happened. If I was out or asleep it may have caused a fire.

The charger works....but it cheaply made. It is not an equivalent replacement for a Microsoft Charger. The connection to my SurfaceBook is very poor and is will stop charging when still attached to charging slot. You have to jiggle it around to get it to work. The cable that comes with it is extremely short. If you still have your old charger I suggest keeping the cable that plugs into the wall as it fits into this power converter.It also isn't the exact same voltage output as the OEM Microsoft charger, which can damage your battery.Will definitely be returning this product and getting a Microsoft Charger.

The charger stopped working about a month and a half after I purchased the charger. Customer support was accomodating and sent me another one. Unfortunately, it also stopped working within a month of receiving.I wanted to give a good rating since customer service was prompt and sent me another charger but unfortunately, it did not last.
