Bucilla 86707 Felt Applique Stocking Kit, 18", Santa Stop Here,

I have a new client purchasing 5 stockings and the stockings that I had made were not really for girls. I told her I would download pictures of some stocking kits and send them to her. I can't believe I didn't notice this years ago. Nearly 98% of the stockings seem to have boys in mind and in fact, nearly all of the stockings you see here on Amazon have boys names on them. There are a few stockings (and I mean few) for girls but not every girl wants to be a princess or a ballerina or likes Mermaids. Come on Bucilla, you can do better! I may need to call Plaid and ask why so many stocking kits seem to have boys in mind and why pure white sequins are not sent with the kits. Even some of the red beads seem to look like they've been bleached and the clear beads are a cloudy. Some kits are fine and it seems to be a hit and miss. And don't get me started on the directions, it's like they're trying to save on paper and toner and the instructions are precise as they have been in the past. I do have a lot of beads, sequins, and thread from over 20 years and I can find better looking beads and sequins if what is sent with the kits are not good quality. I've also noticed that the black thread is poor quality and breaks easily. Some thread is shiny and other times the thread is dull. I have 2 containers of leftover thread so I search through them to find better quality thread. Again, Bucilla, you can do better!

Why did you pick this product vs others?: We have been using these stockings for over 40 years. My grandmother made them for us and now my mother is making them for her grandkids. I purchased this as a gift to my mom to tell her I was pregnant. It takes a bit of time to make and some of the needle work needs a steady hand, but is a great tradition in our family Kit content: very easy to understand and assemble with time. Ease of use: Should plan on taking a few days to complete

This is the 6th Bucilla Stocking that I have made. I love the finished product, and I love having handmade stockings for all of my kids. These kits are Not quick and easy though!!!! They take me months to complete. I am starting in May to make sure I can finish the stocking before Christmas. The instructions are easy to follow, but make sure you read them and follow each step in order, or you will lose pieces.

I really enjoyed making this; however, this is not a project you can finish in a day. I put about 30 hours into this project. I sewed everything on by hand. Very fun to do, but don’t expect to get this done within a few days unless you are using a sewing machine. Very fun kit and I had will be ordering more. I gave it 4 stars because the measurements are a little off and the string is cheap quality. But still will do more projects with these kits!

Directions were easy to follow. Even though I’m it one bit crafty, I was ale to create a beautiful stocking.

Have made several Bucilla kits. They are fabulous. This came promply from the USA and I would definitely order again.
