Ghibli Best Stories

Well written pieces, would recommend for Ghibli fans who enjoy playing the piano. Difficulty level approx grade 6

Approved by Joe Hisaishi, official version of Joe's performance. Just 5 stars no matter what. ABRSM Grade 8 selection is also using this version. Relatively simple, basic arrangements, philosophically Joe Hisaishi's style, the sound that he wants to deliver. There're other great arrangements from Japan with more pieces collected, of richer sound and sophisticated articulations, in various skill levels, though they're a lot harder to obtain in Europe. Some good books I particularly targeted, took me more than 10 orders on eBay to finally secure 1 sent through from Japan. No matter you already have quite some collections or new to Joe Hisaishi/Studio Ghibli scores, this is definitely a must have in your collection, which is just here to order easily.

Daughter loved this. She's G6ish standard with excellent sight reading and was able to pick her way through them. Will easily polish up. She's a big Ghibli fan. I think the titles are in japanese but she's not found it a problem.

Ideal for more advanced piano players. Very beautiful stuff.

I'm sure lots of people would love sheet music for Hisaishi's works and this is excellent! The sheet music isn't too difficult to read, though there are a couple of design choices I disagree with. I wish I could read Japanese so I didn't have to flip back and forth from the English and Japanese titles.

All of the pieces in this book are the proper piano arrangements of famous pieces from Studio Ghibli movies. That does mean this is not "easy piano". The pieces are all grade 7 or 8 standard. What it does mean is that they sound very much like the actual songs you hear in the movie, especially where the original is already a piano piece of course (like Spirited Away for example). It's an amazing book if you can play piano and love Studio Ghibli.

The book it amazing! It includes some of the best works of Joe Hisaishi including Merry Go Round of Life and One Summer's Day. This book is not for beginners though. I'd say that it is about Grade 7 or Grade 8 level.

I love Joe Hisaishi's music, and these are great arrangements for solo piano. I did find one spot with some notes where I was scratching my head wondering about the fingering that would make those notes possible, but other than that, I figured out my own fingerings just fine and I've really enjoyed learning these beautiful songs. I'd say these are for advanced pianists more than moderate-ability ones, but anyone who put in the effort to learn these will enjoy them.

Meraviglioso libro di partiture dei celebri brani che accompagnano le opere dello studio Ghibli, scritte dell'immenso M° Joe Hisaishi. Il libro è indicato per pianisti con buona tecnica. Ottima la grafica delle partiture che sono scritte in modo ampio e di facile lettura.

Ich kannte viele der Anime gar nicht. Trotzdem beinhaltet das Buch eine sehr schöne Auswahl an toll klingenden Stücken. Die teilweise ungewöhnliche Harmonik (sicher inspiriert von japanischer Musik) macht das ganze noch interessanter. Leider sind nicht alle Titel übersetzt, so dass man nicht immer weiß, wie die Stücke heißen. Der Satz ist sehr gut und übersichtlich, die Stücke eigentlich sogar sehr gut spielbar. Trotzdem haben die Stücke Anspruch und sind nicht alle ohne Übung sofort spielbar. Für den berühmten Walzer (Merry go round of life) muss man schon ein bißchen üben, wegen der vielen Sprünge und Akkorde in der linken Hand. Fazit: Absolut empfehlenswert auch für Leute, die die Filme von Studio Ghibli nicht kennen.

Great collection, piano arrangements by the composer himself. Beautiful engraving as well. Not easy, but moderate level, I would say between grade 7-8 RCM. Nothing can replace the orchestral scores with piano, but this will be the closest thing.
