This DVD provides a 50 minute beginning home practice for anyone with a major scoliosis to minor imbalances throughout the body. The practice is divided into three sections, approx. 17 minutes each that can be practiced individually or in its entirety. It also includes information on scoliosis by an orthopedic surgeon, and a bonus section for students, yoga teachers and health professionals showing how to use props and specific adjustments for poses specifically for scoliosis. The poses in this video will empower you to take charge of your own back to improve posture and reduce pain and discomfort. This video is based upon a therapeutic yoga program that Elise has developed for her own scoliosis and has been used with clients around the world.

Be patient and follow along
This was for a 12 year old and it will take patience and guidance to get a child to do the routines but it is worth the effort. She is already showing improvement after only 2 weeks.

Helpful in Dealing with Scoliosis
I am in my late 60's and most likely incurred scioliosis more than ten years ago during a bout with osteopenia. Mine is a 35 degree lumbar curve, and the curve has virtually fused itself. My discomfort resolved after bouts of sciatica to chronic muscle spasms. I have used a variety of tools to deal my scoliosis and this is one of them. I began to attack the problem with physical therapy. Once I began strengthening my core I used yoga as well as work outs at a gym, swimming, exercise bike riding, and using free weights. I see Yoga as systemic body work and the techniques in this video helped me work on the imbalances caused by the curve. I used the techniques regularly for a few months and I no longer have that nagging daily muscle spasm/fatigue. I would advise caution; after a session my soft tissues would be tender for a day or two, but stronger when healed. I have now reverted to my standard yoga for maintenance along with my workouts.

Some doctors lie.
Lying doctor said to a cousin that immigrated three generations ago to USA that she had scoliosis. I bought the book to help remedy after we separated. I don't possess the book because I sent the book to the person that was lied to by a doctor; I sent an additional book about scoliosis to the person, maybe I returned this book. Once I figured out how to cure scoliosis, I corresponded with vitamin remedy that I bought, and then was made aware that the scoliosis comment about the person was a lie, after being separated.

I really like the clarity of EB Miller's book and DVD
I really like the clarity of EB Miller's book and DVD. Since the book and DVD were published, a medical journal published this report: "Serial Case Reporting Yoga for Idiopathic and Degenerative Scoliosis" by Loren M. Fishman et al. (Sep. 2014). The report describes benefit in reducing the primary curve through use of asymmetric stretches, especially the side plank pose. (No one should try this without first having a physician identify your curve type and measure your angle. Then get a treatment plan and guidance with a registered physical therapist. If you do the asymmetric exercises without expert guidance and become confused as to which is the side to point toward the floor, you may make your angle much larger, quickly.) It will be interesting to see if Miller embraces the concept of asymmetric stretches and publishes a revised book. I hope so.

Waste of money
I have a significant S-curve and have been doing Iyengar yoga for about a year. I was looking to learn poses particularly beneficial for pain relief or tips to adjust the regular poses for my condition that instructors may not know about. However, very little in this DVD is scoliosis-specific, it is basically an introduction to Iyengar yoga - how to stand, breathe, and do very basic poses. Anyone can learn all that by going to one yoga class, where you also have the benefit of an instructor's presence. The only useful thing I learned from this video was rotating the position of my hand in downward dog in a way to pull in my mid-back curve. Not really worth 30 dollars, in my opinion. The author claims to have reduced her curve through yoga, but even if that's true, clearly it was not done via such elementary sequences. Would only recommend it for absolute beginners who don't have Iyengar yoga in their city.

Slow and a Complete Snooze
I purchased this DVD maybe 6-months ago. I decided to watch it before actually participating, I watched it in bed and fell asleep. The woman (Elise Browning Miller) who instructs the video constantly talks, she never stops talking and she tries to speak in a soothing voice but it's really just annoying. That and she has other people she is demonstrating with and keeps referring to each one of them and what spinal problems they have and what exercise you should do for your spinal problems. The pace is so slow. You couldn't pay me to watch this video again, it was painful enough the first time around. I practiced yoga about 10-years ago and was part of a regular yoga class and loved it. I have Scoliosis but I really feel that just a regular yoga video would be just as effective.

Just what I needed for my back pain very helpful and no need to put too much effort into the exercises at first as she works up to more intense ones as the DVD goes on...

Yoga DVD
It's nice to finally have a Yoga Workout that focuses on Scoliosis. Even better is that the instructors in the DVD are not all 6' tall Females that weigh 100lbs, these are 'real' people.
