This movie is a very honest and poignant look at life from the lens of a gay man who has the ambition of making it in the big city. It stikes a chord or two in our heartstring as everyone in this life has been through some form of heartache. A universal kaledidoscope of emotions can be seen and felt as the protagonist go through pain after pain and one could feel how it is to be a pariah in a world of superficial nomads. Watch the movie as it is worth your time.

Very impressive production all around. Guillermo Pfening (Nico) conveys all the complexity of what it must be like trying to make it on a bigger stage in another country and fail. The script is so personal and palpable, that viewers sense the disappointment and desperation of Nico as he tries to succeed. However, this subtext is not the primary layer and core of the story. Even though it consumes the lion's share of show time. Nor is it the real reason for Nico's journey to a 'bigger' stage. To say more would be a real spoiler. The supporting actors are all quite good. The photography is first-rate and that's really saying something given the 'on location' filming in New York and in Buenos Aires. The only quibble I have is the scene in which Nico confiscates merchandise receipts, goes to the store to find similar items, retrieves the items at the store and presents them to the returns department for cash. Huh? This could never, ever happen. The returns dept always scans the barcodes (especially for clothing, bags and other similar type merchandise) to ensure you are truly returning the same items you purchased. This scene should have been left on the cutting room floor, it just isn't true. Given the rather salient level of subtlety and detail this production displays in many other parts of the film, this is a glaring oversight and misstep.

This was okay. A soap opera actor who is famous in Argentina tries to make it as an actor in America by coming to New York City. He struggles as the environment is very competitive and he doesn't have many friends in the big city. He lives day to day by waiting tables, doing odd jobs such as baby sitting and renting out his living space when he's not using it. Whatever spare time he has, he goes to auditions, but with his Spanish accent and older look, he's having a hard time landing an acting gig. He makes friends, but he is also internally struggling with his longing for home and his ex-boyfriend, a soap opera producer and married. The actor is openly gay even though he carries himself as a masculine man, but his ex-lover is in the closet with a wife and child. Everyone in Argentina knows the actor and producer as cousins even though they are not; they just always have a close relationship. The actor is angry at his ex-lover because the producer refuses to give up his family life to be with the actor. Though one can sympathize with the struggles of the actor, he has an odd personality of stealing at grocery stores whenever he babysits his friend's baby. He's embarrassed about where he is in life as he tries to fake his financial status among his friends. The movie doesn't have much of a point other than showing the struggles of trying to be an actor who just so happens to be gay.

I did not know what to expect when I began watching this movie. I knew that I was not looking for the overly done coming out story; I wanted something more mature and self aware. This is about a man who is living his life. Not a gay man or an immigrant. There are some nuances in that he is an immigrant who comes from a middle-class life and is humbled when he has to take jobs to survive. But it is also about surviving, immigrant or not. Doing what is needed to put food on the table. A subtle theme involves friendship. Who is a friend? Are people truly friends? Or are they friends just as long as you are convenient? If friendship is only convenient, then is that really a friend? Nico seems really human, which is so difficult to find in other gay characters. The movie isn't "slow" as some might say; the "action" and drama are in the unsaid words, the lingering gazes, the pained expressions; the painful understanding of Nico's situation. The quiet spaces are powerful and there are so many quiet places. I loved that the movie wasn't tragic in that, life was difficult so Nico killed himself, as happens to so many gay characters it seems. I like Nico and I would like to know what happens to him.

Great Movie and the acting by these wonderful Argentinians was superb!So we’ll acted, realistic and I’d love to know the other works done by the actor.

Truly, I tried to get emotionally/mentally involved with this film, but it just never happened. Perhaps others will have better luck. The depth I had hoped for just wasn't there.....

This movie should resonate with anyone who has, or has thought about, coming to the big city to make a new life, and maybe make the big time. The main character is multi-dimensional, imperfect, ambitious, sometimes delusional but ultimately good hearted, like most of us - instead of flawless and innocent, or following that tired, heroic and completely fake arc of overcoming adversity and becoming a better person. It's a story of recognizing who you are and have always been, and embracing it. It's one of the rarest of movies that is centered on a gay person's life, but ultimately the gay subtext is almost irrelevant (and, thank god, there's no "coming out" story involved) - the tribulations of Nico could have been just as effective through a straight guy's or woman's lens - the story holds up and is universal. The story, albeit small, is well told in terms of great acting, direction, editing, score, cinematography, and overall heart. Worth a late evening curl-up-on-sofa and drink it in, have a few tears, think about your aspirations and the things you haven't done, but still could, and, maybe, should.

Estaba bastante aburrido con esta película lenta, y el título es muy engañoso ya que el 97 por ciento de la película está en español. Es una historia lenta y serpenteante, llena hasta el borde de clichés ... de un tipo enamorado que está luchando y es un actor, pero en verdad comparado con muchas grandes películas gay que existen en este momento, y si quieres un idioma español Mira la película sobre el trabajo de Marco Bergers, este trabajo no tenía mucho que ofrecer. Nunca lo vería por segunda vez.

This movie was a beautiful but painful journey into a struggling actors life..Brutal at times.tender in others.Nico (and so many others around the world) struggles..so many promises..so many lies ! (Not just his 'friends' but also his lover)Regardless he picks himself up and continues his journey...Bravo !!I found the 'retail return' items a true fact !Working in retail here in AustraliaLiked this movie..happy i purchased it

der Film mag in der US-Ausgabe vielleicht 'verstaendlich"sein-diese Pro-Fun Media-jedenfalls NICHT!!gelegentlich hört man laute Musik oder Hintergrundgeraeusche, doch meist sieht man nur an den Lippenbewegungen, dass jemand etwas sagt.Man kann allerdings an deutschen Untertiteln sehen, dass irgendwer redet.Die DVD liegt schon länger bei mir rum.erst jetzt bin ich dazugekommen, die sie zu sehen-also zu spät fuer Umtausch oder Gutschrift.Eine absolute Frechheit!!!
