Altair Design Pattern Pad: Bk. 2

I grew up with the original Altair Design books I had in the 1970s. I wish this book had been as large my originals--these pages are smaller and are square. As this was a gift, though, I really had to resist the urge to grab the colored pencils and start coloring away at a few pages. These were a lot of fun back in the day, and my daughter will also enjoy them just as much!

The pages are smaller than the original Altair Design books, but still fun to color in.

I didn't find it to be useful so I gave it to a friends youngster. The child seems to enjoy it.

I ordered design pad 1 and 2 at the same time, this book arrived a day after the first one (which I rated 4 star).As I mentioned in the pad 1 review the pages are card thick so able to use felt tips. Again there are only 24 pages, one design on each page (12 designs twice). Though I was disappointed with the amount of pages the complexity of the shapes will keep most busy for a long while.On first glance the patterns appeared to be exactly the same as those in book 1 but on further review there are subtle differences. I think only 1 or 2 patterns are personal to each book so this is the reason for a 3 star rating.

I loved colouring in these books when I was younger, and for some reason the memory of them popped into my head a couple of weeks ago. I thought I would have a look and see if these books still existed, and I was so pleased to find out they had been reprinted!I ordered Book 2 from Amazon and received it very quickly. As other reviewers have said, the printed designs are as clear and on as good a quality paper as I remember they were originally. The pages are thick enough to use felt-tip on without it bleeding onto the next page.

Altair Design books don't change, except perhaps they have got smaller... or maybe that is me growing up?I have fond memories of spending hours colouring in the geometric patterns. I'm sure it will have the same appeal for my art-mad niece today.
