If this were attached to the door and a person at the upper weight supported used it could it damage the car door (i.e. hinges)?

I am 17 stone and there were not weight issues with the integrity of the door. However it was useless when it rained as the rainwater came into the car via the item and soaked the front seat. The only way to avoid this was to fit the item for every time it was to be used.

Could this be attatched to a ceiling in a wc to aid transferring from toilet to wheelchair?

I would think so as long as ceiling has something for it to be attached to that was equally strong. And height of ceiling was not too high.

What weight can this handle support?

My uncle is 12stone. Helps him a lot as he is recovering from hip operation.

Being of average height at 5ft, thanks to all the millions of short Chinese people!!! I understand where you are coming from. But don't think this strap would solve your problem. I don't know what your car looks like but imagine that there won't be any place to anchor the strap to the boot lid. The width of the strap is similar to a safety seat belt inside the car, and not sure how you'd fix it in a position that would help you to pull down the lid. So it's a difficult one, but don't think this strap is your answer, sorry!
