Special Effects ~ Semi-Permanent Hair Dye ~ Sonic Green

For me it was just ok. I've had 'mermaid' colored hair for about two years now so any color I put in is not new or fresh for the first time other than where it gets applied to new growth. Generally for me that makes it easier as far as getting color to stay because I've built it up over time. With this I didn't feel it performed like everybody keeps saying it does. The green I used previously was a different brand and much more green than blue. It was easy to see when this was wearing out because the blue green was gone and the faded grassier green shade I had before coloring with this dye was more visible. I didn't rinse in vinegar like some people do or throw any of the extras on, just followed the directions on the package. For reference I only wash and condition in very cold water and wash my hair twice a week. Within a couple of weeks this was mostly out of my hair. Considering the price and the fact that I had to use more than one bottle to cover my medium length hair, I wouldn't purchase again. The packaging also makes it difficult to get all of the color out of the hard plastic bottle which is also frustrating. The color is true to the bottle and is pretty, but I wouldn't purchase again.

I've used special effects for over a decade, love their products. Having said that, I didn't receive the sonic green. Instead, I was sent iguana green. Still gonna use it, just please be more mindful with a any future orders.

Bleached hair prior to dying, ended up with aquamarine/teal rather than Kelly green. As time passes, it's turning more and more blue. Mind you, it still looks good, it's just not the darker shade of green I had initially hoped for. For comparative purposes, we used a 40 developer, my hair is very thick, long, and naturally dirty blond. We allowed the dye to remain on the hair for about 2 hours.

i'm serious guys, this hair dye rules. i dyed my hair green over my natural dark brown hair and it created this lovely dark bluish-emerald color. i also tried it over bleached hair and it turned a bright kelly green. i like the darker color better but the color over the bleach does stay colored for longer. even so, the dark green color lasted way longer than i expected it to and didn't cost a fortune to maintain. highly recommend this product! i'm not sure how well the other colors from this company work but if i ever were to dye my hair again i would definitely buy this brand.

Absolutely beautiful color, I would definitely say it is more blue than green. It's been over a month and it has faded to a really nice light blue that I still get tons of compliments on. I've been loyal to Special Effects for over 10 years now, such a great brand, I have never been dissapointed. They have the longest lasting dyes for unnatural colors and I especially love that they're vegan!

I mix this and Iguana Green for a really nice green. Stays for a long time even with frequent washing. I mix it with a lot of conditioner when I'm applying to evenly coat my hair and also not have to use so much at once. Doesn't dilute the colour at all, just makes application easier and kind of acts as a deep conditioning treatment while I'm colouring.

This product looked great in my hair! It looked like a forest green, which is what I wanted as I didn't want neon green. My hair was bleached blonde, so I can't say how it looks on regular, dark hair. It also lasted for a month before it started to fade. The best hair dye company out there for sure.

No other hair color lasts as long as Special Effects . I don't have to color my hair every month. The green has saved me from getting orange hair for up to 2 months. I do get root problems so I just have to touch up at about 5 weeks. I don't know what I would do without this color. Mixed with neutral brown I get no red hair, Yeah! Thanks Special Effects.
