Vinegar Syndrome specializes in the masterful restoration and distribution of cult, horror, and erotic films from the 1960s-90s.Leon Issac Kennedy stars as Martel Gordone who, after unwittingly getting involved with a prostitute and attempting to save her from being assaulted by a John, which turns deadly, finds himself charged with a murder he didn't commit. Locked up in the state penitentiary, Martel is forced to fend for himself among hardened criminals, until he's introduced to the underground and lucrative world of in-prison boxing.Director Jamaa Fanaka's breakout action hit, PENITENTIARY, remains one of the seminal late period 'Blaxploitation' films. Classic 80s exploitation. Vinegar Syndrome Blu-ray.
Great picture, lots of cool extras. Bonus: "Nice Guy" Ernie Hudson as real nasty piece of work.

Vinegar Syndrome bluray.
Great movie, of course. That said, VS is becoming the Criterion of exploitation and other weird and wonderful - and often "lost" - films. Great features , picture, and lovingly packaged.

eh
more money, better cast, better production, worse film. no more gritty exploitation in this flick. softer version of the original film with an even weaker story

Great Clarity!
DVD was as described and the clarity was unbelievable! That was the one thing I was concerned about with this being a classic movie but no issues at all.

Exploitation at heart, despite what the interviews say - and that is a good thing
Again, the interviews are pretentious, self important and a bit too much bragging... but this movie is a riot!!! Be proud of what you created, no need to try and push it as something it's not. This is not pushing the creative boundaries of film, but it IS a great exploitation title!!!

Beautifully mastered
...and a cracking movie to boot. Well worth your cash if you like blaxploitation boxing flicks. This is also the movie with the frankly brutal in-cell beating, a shocking bit of cinema.
