COSMOS (CARL SAGAN)

Lo muy bueno de esta version es que podemos verla aqui en Estados Unidos pero tambien en America del Sur, asi que muy probable compre otra copia para enviarla a mi familia en Uruguay.He leido criticas de que la imagen no es un "blu ray"!...bueno tampoco Carl Sagan lo vemos aca consultar su iphone, no, no lo hace. Es una produccion de los 70, y no soy un tecnico, pero no creo haya sido filmado originalmente con camaras de la talla de la produccion Star Wars.Quizas algun dia pueda hacerse una depuracion digital, pero aqui no veran eso.Si volveran a ver a nuestro querido pionero Carl, responsable del punta pie inicial de lo que es esto de poner el mundo de la ciencia en el living de casa. Si eres joven quizas no entiendas a lo que me refiero, pero cuando veiamos esta serie, no existia science channel o discovery channel, o cientos de series cientificas como existen hoy al alcance del control remoto, esto era unico!..el ver esto para muchos de nosotros fue un despertar intelectual.En cuanto a el español hablado aqui, no es el que yo recuerdo de muchachito, creo en mi pais llego con otro traductor, quizas la version de España, a mi no me gusto esta voz, asi que prfiero verlo con la voz original, y en todo caso le pongo los subtitulos.Creo es un infaltable en tu coleccion de blu ray, Dvd, y si eres igual que yo, un material que no puede faltar en la lista de ..."visto"... de tus propios hijos.Otro detalle que me gusto, es que Carl Sagan habla en KM!...usa el sistema metrico decimal para hablar, increible que el ya lo hiciera en la decada de los 70, y hoy aun vemos series que obstinadamente siguen usando el Primitivo sistema Estadounidense de Millas, pies, y libras.PD. Disculpen la falta de acentos pero uso teclado en Ingles.PD. Venia a comprar otra copia para mi sobrino,...pero me subistes el precio!! : O

04-10-2015 Despite the bothersome need to set each episode to English, instead of the default in Spanish, this remains THE VERY FINEST PROJECT IN PBS history. It beats out the great Ken Burns productions, such as "Baseball," "The Civil War," "The West," and anything else this terrific producer has, and continues, to make. The reason????? Obviously, the subject matter is the chief explanation. Our past is interesting, yes, but our origins far more fascination to this viewer, and, I would argue, to virtually all humans who have ever seen this mammoth collection, either in it's entirelty, or only a chapter or two.Right from the start, Dr. Sagan confesses that much of our journey to understand the cosmos, is and must be, based partly on our imaginations. But, even though these "visions," and/or "ideas," seem sometimes far-fetched*****************************************************NEED TO FINISH*********************************************************************************************

Esta es la edición con doblaje mexicano que vi durante mi infancia. Como dijo el amigo anteriormente, el sonido de la música no es tan claro como la versión en inglés, pero la calidad del video es excelente, y la voz noble y melodiosa del actor mexicano (alguien sabe cómo se llama?) que dobla a Carl Sagan le da un matiz espiritual y de reposada inteligencia. Una excelente opción para quienes quieren verlo en inglés o castellano (incluye los subtítulos), a un precio más cómodo que la versión inglesa. Por cierto, incluye el capítulo II que según dice, no estaba disponible anteriormente en nuestra lengua (el doblaje es con otro actor, por cierto.)

I was searching during too many years this product with spanish audio. (Cosmos by Carl Sagan). Even if the spanish audio is not so clear as the most recent Cosmos edition, this product is excellent for spanish native speakers. Mainly if they are kids and cannot read the subtitles so fast. Había estado buscando durante muchos años éste producto con audio en español. (Cosmos por Carl Sagan). Aún si el audio en español no es tan nítido como el audio en inglés de la más reciente edicion de Cosmos, éstos DVD,s son excelentes para los que hablamos español. Sobretodo si se trata de niños que todavía no pueden leer los subtítulos tan rápido.

It was, once again, a true learning experience to view Carl Sagan explaining the origins of the universe, and our place in it. Having viewed the series many years ago, one can only marvel at how well this series has stood the test of time.It is the basis for the newest version now airing on broadcast TV, which is a tribute in its own right. Highly recommended for all science buffs, and inquiring minds both young and old alike.

I've been watching this and was bothered to notice that there are certain inconsistencies between this version and the original wherein cuts are made to the video.A specific instance is in Episode 3, just after the transition from Brahe's "death" to Sagan in the candles, the Spanish version cuts in some extra footage at the 32 minute mark.For the Spanish dubbing, this makes sense, as Spanish (in some cases) takes longer to say things than English does.However, this was not "fixed" in the English audio, so there is some jumping about. This is all well and good if you're listening to the Spanish, but is rather jarring in the English.Perhaps this is part of the price... fewer in dollars, more in editing "problems". (I understand it's only a problem in the English.)

Yes folks, that's the inane question asked by the Amazon staff. How could the finest science series ever produced NOT meet and exceed expectations? And I'm quite certain there are billions and billions of people who would instantly agree with me. For anyone who has not yet watched and, in doing so, immerse themselves in the wonders of our marvelous universe, I heartily endorse this epic series and urge you to purchase a copy.
